2019 MONSTER ENERGY CUP | COMPLETE COVERAGE
The past two months were hectic for Jason Anderson. Shortly after the end of the 2019 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing rider packed his gear bags and flew to Europe for an extended stay that allowed him to ride the natural terrain sand tracks in preparation for the 2019 Motocross of Nations. Hours after the event was over (if you’ve been in a cave, just know America placed sixth in the heavy wet sand at Assen), Anderson boarded a flight and flew back to the Southern California to shake down the two-stroke Husqvarna TC 250 that the team had built for a run at the Red Bull Straight Rhythm. A few social media clips showed that Anderson quickly got up to speed on the two-stroke bike, but a lack of time on the bike (two days total) and issues during the Friday practice session made him uneasy to the point that he opted out of the event. Although Anderson hung out at the race and did a quick chat with swap, he stayed silent about the scratch entry until a social media post on Tuesday night that detailed the issue and confirmed that he will sit out the upcoming 2019 Monster Energy Cup.
In the caption, Anderson explained that because so much effort went into the MXON, he has not been able to work on his skills or setup for Supercross. The nonstop run from September to now has eaten away at much of the “offseason” riders long for, so Anderson and the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing team have decided it’s okay to skip the events that have no overall impact on a championship. With that said, Anderson has contracts with event promoters in Australia and New Zealand to ride the AUS-X Open and S-X Open in November, and he should make it to those events without issue.
From what we have heard, Zach Osborne will also sit out the 2019 Monster Energy Cup after the run in Europe alongside Anderson for the MXON. With that, Dean Wilson will be the only 450 class rider under the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing tent in Las Vegas.
