2019 THUNDER VALLEY MOTOCROSS | COMPLETE COVERAGE

Timed qualifying has just concluded at the 2019 Thunder Valley Motocross, the third round of the 2019 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship. It’s a perfect day in Colorado as mild weather, clear skies, and an expertly prepped track have riders and teams at their best. It’s been a busy morning already, so let’s just get into the lap times.

2019 THUNDER VALLEY MOTOCROSS | 250 CLASS QUALIFYING REPORT

RJ Hampshire and the GEICO Honda team have worked hard to improve the performance of the CRF250R, and their efforts have paid off already, because Hampshire logged the fastest lap of the 250 class, a 2:04.774, during the second session.

Dylan Ferrandis and Justin Cooper clocked the second and third fastest laps on their Monster Energy/Star Racing/Yamaha bikes. Ferrandis had the edge on Cooper (the rider that won a moto here last year) and 0.381 seconds separated them on the stopwatch.

Michael Mosiman continues to improve in the 250 class. The Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing rider kept to himself on the track for much of the morning, then put in a 2:05.748 lap, which put him fourth overall.

Looks like last week’s 250 Moto Two battle was a sign of things to come because GEICO Honda’s Hunter Lawrence and Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s Adam Cianciarulo put in a similar pace and tussled for a spot in the top-five. Lawrence put in a 2:05.815 to Cianciarulo’s 2:05.830, which gave the rookie rider the edge over the incoming championship leader.

2019 THUNDER VALLEY MOTOCROSS | 450 CLASS QUALIFYING REPORT

Eli Tomac was considerably faster than anyone else in the field, as the Monster Energy Kawasaki rider’s 2:02.527 lap put him nearly two seconds clear of the competition. The Colorado native is making the most of his home state advantage.

Ken Roczen has maintained his place in the pack through the first three weekends of the year and this morning the Team Honda HRC rider put in a 2:04.198 lap, which put him second overall on the score sheets.

Zach Osborne’s rookie run continues to go well and the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing rider was third fastest in the 450 class thanks to a 2:04.575 lap.

Jason Anderson doesn’t seem to be as fazed by the altitude as years past and the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing rider’s 2:05.008 lap was the fourth-fastest of the 450 class. He managed to cut nearly four seconds off his lap times between the first and second practices.

Marvin Musquin was fifth-fastest in the class with a 2:05.503 lap time, which is solid for the Red Bull KTM rider as he looks to build after a rough start to the season.

I think overall swapmotolive has picked up right where transworld left off if not even elevated the content. The website covers pretty much all things dirt bikes and adds an easy going vibe along with it. On thing that I love is all of the different types of content you have been able to add to this site for example getting gopro footage from Eli Tomac I have never seen that before and it was so cool being able to see the his view with how he attacks the track and just powers though all of the ruts. Another thing that I love about the this site is the great group of people you got working on all the articles, write ups, and even the pictures on it provides a great image for our sport. I do have a couple things that I do think would be cool to see maybe try and get more interviews with some privateers at the pro nationals, I think it would be sweet to hear from them. Another suggestion would be maybe occasionally post a little about not just motocross or supercross but maybe something about the GNCC’s or just something different. I know it’s mostly just mx/sx but I do think it would be cool. Overall I think this site is a great addition to this sport and is my number one place for all moto news. Keep up the great work!
