2020 ARLINGTON SUPERCROSS | COMPLETE COVERAGE

Monster Energy Kawasaki has confirmed that Adam Cianciarulo will miss the 2020 Arlington Supercross due to a broken collarbone suffered in the first round of Timed Qualifying at round eight of the 2020 Monster Energy Supercross Series. Cianciarulo’s crash occurred in the dragon back to triple jump lane of the track and his left shoulder took the brunt of the impact, thus the injury.

He spent a few moments with the Alpinestars Mobile Medical, a standard thing after a hard crash, but it was clear that something was wrong when he made no attempt to go back to his Monster Energy Kawasaki KX450. Cianciarulo was eventually given a lift on the medical staff’s Mule and was taken to their on-site rig for an evaluation.

The Monster Energy Kawasaki team confirmed to us that Cianciarulo will miss this race as a result and will see his doctors this week to determine the full extent of the injury and a timeline for recovery.

A rookie in the 450 Class, Cianciarulo has been very solid. He was the fastest qualifier in all seven of the prior rounds, has led 37 Main Event laps, finished on the podium two times, and was ranked fifth overall in the championship standings going into tonight’s race.

We will share more information as it becomes available.

UPDATE MARCH 4 | It’s been a week and a half since Cianciarulo’s injury, but it sounds like the break and surgery are healing nicely, so AC posted on Instagram that he is aiming for a return to action at the Seattle Supercross, which is in five weeks. A month and a half recovery time may seem a bit excessing to some, which Cianciarulo acknowledged, but he insisted on having his upper body at full strength. Wise call, since there’s no need to rush anything now and risk another issue that could sideline him for the remaining rounds or the upcoming Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship.

UPDATE FEBRUARY 27 2020 | On Tuesday Cianciarulo stated that he had his collarbone plated, a routine procedure that helps expedite the recovery process, and was optimistic that he will be back on the starting line soon but there was no exact timeline shared.
