New track, same routine. After two weeks in Tennessee to start the season, the 2020 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship has moved up the road to Indiana for round three, the 2020 Ironman Motocross. Early forecasts had chances of rain, but the poor weather has stayed south and we’re in for a clear, sunny day at the races.

2020 IRONMAN MOTOCROSS | 250 CLASS QUALIFYING REPORT

A Monster Energy/Star Racing/Yamaha rider was the quickest of the 250 Class for the third week in a row, but this time it was Shane McElrath, who clicked off a 2:13.107 time in the final session of Timed Qualifying.

Dylan Ferrandis wasn’t too far off on the stopwatch and a 2:13.273 put the incoming point leader second overall on the timesheets. The Star Racing teammates were the only riders in the class in the 2:13 range.

Jeremy Martin didn’t forget how to go fast during all of the time he missed due to injury, which is obvious with last week’s overall win and this week’s third-place rank in qualifying. The GEICO Honda rider’s best time was a 2:15.016 in the final session.

Brandon Hartranft had a rough go in the mud last week, but the Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/KTM rider looks ready to put that behind him at round three. A 2:15.342 lap put Hartranft fourth in the morning times.

Alex Martin could be a dark horse this summer. The JGRMX/Yoshimura/Suzuki Factory Racing rider has been in the top half of the running order more often than not, won Moto Two last week, and was fifth-fastest in the small-bore group thanks to a 2:15.524.

Another round, another fast rookie at the top of the timesheet in the 450 Class. This time it was Monster Energy Kawasaki rider Adam Cianciarulo, who put down an impressive 2:09.464 around the Indiana track. AC’s lap was nearly a full-second than the rest of the field, making him the only rider of the combined field to go under 2:10.

Starting to believe that Zach Osborne is a title contender? The incoming point leader was second-fastest overall in the combined the morning sessions, with the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing rider’s best being a 2:10.264.

Marvin Musquin was third overall in the 450 Class thanks to a 2:10.687 time. The Red Bull KTM rider has been very, very good in his return to racing.

Justin Barcia knows the fast lines around the Ironman layout and the Monster Energy Yamaha Factory Racing rider put in 2:10.864 during the final session. Fun fact: Barcia was the only rider in the top-five that didn’t post his best time on Lap Two, and instead found his flow on Lap Three.

Two rookies near the top of the board. Team Honda HRC’s Chase Sexton completed the top-five with a 2:10.963, his second top-five time in three rounds.
