COVID-19 & MOTOCROSS | COMPLETE COVERAGE

The 2020 Monster Energy FIM Motocross World Championship continues to go through changes related to the COVID-19 situation and on Wednesday, InFront Moto Group confirmed that two more races will be moved from their original dates due to the ongoing restrictions and measures that have been put into place throughout Europe.

The 2020 MXGP of Italy at Maggiora will now take place on July 4-5, weeks after its original slot in mid-May. This event will be the re-re-opening of the famed facility, which was renovated a few years back and hosted the 2016 Motocross of Nations until issues with local officials forced it to close down. The track group has worked to correct the problems and was announced as a part of the MXGP calendar last year.

The 2020 MXGP of Germany at Teutschenthal will now take place on August 8-9, more than two months after its original date in mid-May. The Teutschenthal venue has been a staple to the MXGP schedule for years and hosted the 2013 Motocross of Nations.

The MXGP of Italy at Maggiora was intended to be the return to competition for the series, but this move means that the series will instead pick up with the 2020 MXGP of Russia at Orlyonok on June 6-7.

But, and this is very important, the spread of COVID-19 has resulted in Russia enacting the same personal space measures that countries in Western Europe adopted a few weeks ago. This puts the June date in question and it would not be a surprise to see it pushed back as well.

Infront Moto Racing would like to inform that there have been further changes made to the 2020 MXGP racing calendar.

The MXGP of Italy, taking place at the legendary Maggiora circuit, will now be rescheduled from the 17th of May to the 5th of July. Alongside, the MXGP of Germany in Teutschenthal will move from the 24th of May to the 9th of August.

With the current pandemic of the coronavirus, these changes have been vital in order to ensure the health and safety of the staff, teams, riders and fans. Infront Moto Racing along with the FIM, FIM Europe and the local organisers are working hard in order to preserve the FIM Motocross World Championship calendar as much as possible.

The FIM Motocross World Championship is planning to return with the MXGP of Russia taking place at the impressive Orlyonok venue on the 7th of June 2020. We would like to thank you for your understanding and cooperation during this time.
