Time for GoPro videos from the 2020 Salt Lake City One Supercross. The revolutionary camera company is back on board as a sponsor to the Monster Energy Supercross Series and key riders in the field, which means we’ll get plenty of point of view footage through the seventeen-round championship. Here are clips from Adam Cianciarulo and Ken Roczen’s perspective at the first race of seven in SLC.

ADAM CIANCIARULO | 450 HEAT RACE TWO

Like we mentioned in Kickstart, it was cool to see the two training partners square off for the top spot in 450 Heat Race Two. Cianciarulo kept his Monster Energy Kawasaki tight on the inside line through the first turn and was just a bit behind Roczen down the first rhythm lane. One thing we’ve noted about AC in the past is the way he revs the bike out over jumps, especially ones that take a little extra “oomph” to get over. You can hear the KX450 as Adam bounced through the first two rhythm lanes, and then later in the video at other points around the track.

AC was steady through the sprint race and didn’t make many mistakes in his run behind Roczen, but one thing that caught our eye was how he quickly avoided the downed rider after the finish line. We were standing right there when the crash happened and remembered the bike being on the track in a very fast section, which Roczen and Cianciarulo hopped right by without issue.

KEN ROCZEN | 450 MAIN EVENT

We know how everyone says the start is the most important moment of the race and that was especially true at the SLC One SX. Why? Because of the dust cloud that was created by the pack of riders on the dry dirt. Guys in the mid-pack and back said that the first few moments of the Main Event were sketchy because of the limited visibility in the rhythm lanes, but Roczen was able to avoid that issue with a decent position out of the first turn. While you’re watching, note Cianciarulo’s aggressive block out on Webb through the sweeping turn; AC basically used the same line as his Heat Race.

The early laps were still a scramble for Roczen because he watched title rivals Tomac and Webb inch away while he was behind Martin Davalos and Vince Friese. His pair of passes of Davalos and Friese on the second lap down the first rhythm lane was key because he got around both just as Tomac and Webb were caught up in Cianciarulo’s crash. The issue allowed Roczen to practically pull even with Tomac and Webb, which created an excellent duel between the trio.

The combination that Webb did in the rhythm lane down looked to be the fastest way because each lap he would pull just a little bit further ahead of Roczen. Once KR started to do it consistently, he was able to keep pace better and then pounced when the opportunity to make a pass on Tomac came.
