250 Heat One

The first start of Wednesday night went to GEICO Honda’s Chase Sexton, with Garrett Marchbanks just behind. Kyle Peters sat in third place, with Enzo Lopes challenging early on for the position. However, on the third lap, Lopes came up short on a triple and then bailed off of his Yamaha off of the next lip, ending his night. This incident allowed Chris Blose to advance into the fourth place position. Back up front, Sexton sat a few seconds ahead of Marchbanks, and the pair continued to build a comfortable lead on the rest of the field. Back in the pack, Coty Schock hit the deck towards the end of the whoop section, while running in the top-9. After a bad start, GEICO Honda’s Jo Shimoda battled through the pack and up into a transfer position. At the end of the race, Chase Sexton took home the heat race win with a dominating lead.

250 Heat Two

Heat two’s start and early lead went to Monster Energy Yamaha’s Colt Nichols with teammate Shane McElrath alongside. Shane quickly got around his teammate for the lead in the second corner. TLD KTM’s Pierce Brown hit the deck in the whoops while running in third, and dropped to 18th. This handed Justin Starling the third place position, with Jeremy Martin just behind in fourth. Colt Nichols went down in a corner and dropped from second to fifth place. Just moments later, Shane McElrath almost goes down while drifting off track off of the finish line. Jeremy Martin made the pass on Justin Starling and moved into second place. With just one lap to go, Pierce Brown made the pass to secure his spot in the main event. Shane McElrath took the heat race win, with Jeremy Martin finishing in second place.

250 LCQ

The holeshot and early lead in the 250cc LCQ went to Wilson Fleming, with Moranz and Winter behind. Dustin Winter dove to the inside of Moranz and took over second place, however, Moranz retuned the favor just a few sections later and regained second place. Osby made the pass on Schock for fourth place and the final transfer position, while Winters pushes Moranz wide and off of the track. Osby then gets around Moranz and moved into the third place position. A horrible run though the whoops by Schock drops him two positions and well outside of a transfer position. Thurman caught up to the rear wheel of Moranz in the final lap and on the final turn took Moranz wide and made the pass for the final transfer position. Wilson Fleming took the LCQ win, after leading start to finish.

250 Main Event

The holeshot and early lead of the 250cc Main Event went to Colt Nichols, with teammate Shane McElrath just behind. Chase Sexton went down, and Pierce Brown’s bike got stuck on top of Sexton’s bike. By the time the two got remounted, they were back in 17th and 18th place. Meanwhile, Jace Owen sat behind the Star Yamaha duo in third place, with Jeremy Martin trailing in fourth. As Sexton battling through the pack and into the top-10, Colt Nichols remained up front with Shane McElrath challenging for the lead. Shane McElrath was finally able to get past his teammate and into the lead, as Sexton moved into sixth place. As Chase Sexton made the pass on Peters, Garrett Marchbanks followed in an attempt to latch on. The two, both Sexton and Marchbanks, then advanced past Swoll and secured fourth and fifth place. Back in the pack, Jo Shimoda found some inside lines and moved into eighth place. After a seemingly picture-perfect race for the Star Racing boys, Shane McElrath took the checkered flag first and took yet another win in Salt Lake City.

450 Heat One

The first 450cc start of the night went to RedBull KTM’s Cooper Webb, with Chad Reed and Malcolm Stewart just behind. Jason Anderson began working on Reed for third place, and was able to blitz by through the whoops. Back in the pack, Justin Barcia started making passes through the pack after a bad start. Cooper Webb continued to lead, but Malcolm Stewart continued to challenge for the lead. Jason Anderson caught the pair of leaders and made the battle for the lead a three rider fight. With two laps to go, Malcolm Stewart blitzed by Webb through the whoops and secured the lead. As the checkered flag waved, Malcolm took the heat race win and moved onto the main event.

450 Heat Two

The early lead in heat two went to HRC Honda’s Ken Roczen, with Kyle Cunningham just behind. Eli Tomac, in the other hand, got buried in the pack. Benny Bloss dove to the inside of his teammate Blake Baggett, which sent Baggett to the ground. Osborne and Bloss moved pass Cunningham and advanced into the podium positions, behind Roczen. Eli Tomac dove to the inside of Cunningham after the whoops and made the pass for fourth. Meanwhile, Ken Roczen sat up front with a comfortable six-second lead. Eli Tomac continued to make moves, as he scrubbed past Bloss and into third place. Meanwhile, Blake Baggett battled outside of the top-10 to advance into a transfer position. With less than 30-seconds on the clock, Eli Tomac took Osborne wide after the whoops and made the pass for second place. As the checkered flag flew, Ken Roczen took the dominating win while Blake Baggett was able to secure a transfer position.

450 LCQ

The early lead in the 450cc LCQ went to Ryan Breece, with Justin Hill just behind in second place. Freddie Noren washed out and dropped to 12th place. Justin Hill made the pass on Breece for the lead after an excellent drive out of the corner and onto the straight away. Back in the pack, Alex Ray washed out in the same corner as Noren and dropped outside of the top-10. Adam Enticknap sat behind Gardner in fourth position and held the final transfer position into the main event. Ryan Breece began dropping positions, as he went from second place to fourth in a lap. As the checkered flag flew, Justin Hill took the LCQ win.

450 Main Event

The hotshot and early lead of the final race of the night went to Zach Osborne, but Vince Friese and Osborne made some contact, slowing everyone up. Ken Roczen and Eli Tomac were buried outside of the top-5 and battling with each other, and through the pack. Meanwhile, Osborne sat up front with the lead, while Cooper Webb gave chase in second and Justin Barcia tailed in third. Ken Roczen caught up to the rear wheels of Anderson and Wilson, and began challenging for a top-five position. As Roczen passed Wilson for fifth, Anderson passed Barcia for third. Ken wasted no time after passing Wilson and immediately set-up Barcia for a pass. Tomac follows as Roczen passes into the top-5. Ryan Breece hit the deck in the whoops and rode back to the pits, reports of him not feeling well seemed to be accurate. As third through fifth place stacked close together for a battle, Osborne remained up front with a four-second lead on third place. Eli Tomac took Roczen wide after the whoops and made the pass for fourth place, and then set his sights on Anderson in third. Just a lap later, Tomac made the pass on Anderson for third place in the same corner as before. As Tomac sets loose on the leaders, Cooper Webb closed in on Osborne and began challenging for the lead. With 4-minutes on the clock, Cooper Webb finally saw an opening and made the pass on Osborne for the lead. Tomac then began challenging Osborne for second place and dove to the inside to make the pass. Eli Tomac tried to make the pass but ran out of time, as Cooper Webb took the checkered flag first and claimed the win in Salt Lake City.
