2020 ST. LOUIS SUPERCROSS | COMPLETE COVERAGE

And that’s a wrap on timed qualifying at the 2020 St. Louis Supercross! The second round of the 2020 Monster Energy Supercross Series is completely different than last week’s opener in Anaheim, as the Dome at the America’s Center is a standard rectangular field with a covered roof and controlled climate. That’s good too because it’s allowed the track crew to keep the soil in prime shape for traction and line choices in the bowl turns and rhythm lanes.

After such unpredictable results last week, it’s going to be interesting to see how the night’s action unfolds. The lap times for the 250 and 450 classes were very close, with many riders within a second of each other on the stopwatch, except for the two front-runners.

Dylan Ferrandis held the top spot on the scoring tower through both of the afternoon sessions, with a 51.002 lap time being the Monster Energy/Star Racing/Yamaha rider’s best. That was 0.267 seconds faster than teammate and incoming championship leader Justin Cooper, while Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s Austin Forkner and GEICO Honda’s Christian Craig were about three-quarters of a second slower.

Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Adam Cianciarulo was by far the faster rider of the day, as he was the only name in either class to clock a lap in the 50-second range; it was a 50.275 lap to be exact. Two burly crashes in the final session didn’t seem to faze him, though, and he finished every lap. Eli Tomac was the second rider on the scoring tower, thanks to a 51.016 time, while Justin Brayton was put in eleventh place with a 51.922 time. Yes, that’s how close the pace was in the 450 class.
