2020 TRANS AM VET CLASS
JUNE 26-28
GLEN HELEN RACEWAY

The Trans Am Vet Classic is in its third year and is an event that is special to us because it’s the one time a year that we actually get to put on our gear and dig up some tearoffs for our goggles. The Trans Am Vet Classic race weekend is loaded with classes for riders age 25 years and older, and without giving away the median age, that leaves plenty of room for everyone who works the 22 events per year to get out there for a gate drop.

For me, one of the best days on a starting gate came at the Trans Am when I shared the first straightaway with Kurt Nicoll, Jeff Matiasevich, Jeremy McGrath, and a handful of other riders whom I respect. That is what the Trans Am is: buddies creating memories and spending the weekend together at the track.

This year’s Trans Am almost didn’t happen due to the COVID-19 situation, but California has moved into Phase 3 just in time and the folks at Glen Helen Raceway have welcomed us with the first motocross race on their schedule since the break. This comes with a few conditions, though, and we need to make sure and follow the requirements. Let’s show our thanks for all the hard work it took to get the track open and mind the requests of Glen Helen Raceway and those who allowed this event to happen. – Aaron Cooke

Now that all that is out of the way, back to the fun stuff! The Trans Am layout is unique to Glen Helen Raceway because it’s one of the few times per year that the National and REM tracks are combined. The layout uses all the elevation and natural terrain that Glen Helen has to offer.

This year Saturday and Sunday will count as separate race days. Nihilo Concepts has made some very unique trophies for the top-10 riders who complete the most laps over the weekend! Every racer will get a t-shirt and we will have some extra on hand for sale. Walters’ Mercedes-Benz will be on hand with their lineup of Sprinter and Metris MX vehicles, Ogio has some special prizes up their sleeve as well, Fasthouse will be on hand promoting the Day in the Dirt event coming late November, and ProTaper will also be on hand with all their products on display.

Additional vendors that will have an on-site presence for rider support will be ASV Inventions, PNG Living, Bell Helmets, FMF, Throttle Syndicate, and Irenic CBD.  Make sure to stop by and see these awesome companies who came out to support you over the weekend.  You will also have a chance to view and buy a raffle ticket for the Custom Upfits Moto Trailer to benefit Brian Moreau.
