2021 ARLINGTON TWO SUPERCROSS | COMPLETE COVERAGE

Tuesday night in Texas. The 2021 Monster Energy Supercross Series returned to AT&T Stadium for the 2021 Arlington Two Supercross, the second of three races in the DFW Metro and the eleventh race of the championship tour. There was plenty of action in the mid-week motos, thanks to a new winner-podium shakeup-issues for title contender in the 250 West Coast Region and the way the championship contenders-stars of the sport had a straight-up/heads-up battle for the top-three spots in the running order.

250 Heat One

As the gate dropped for the first time on Tuesday night, Seth Hammaker was off to the early lead and immediately back to his successful ways from Saturday night. A large pileup occurred in the second turn, collecting Coty Schock and Kyle Peters. Hunter Lawrence sat comfortably in second place, with Jalek Swoll around a second behind. Seth continued to lead and build the gap between him and Lawrence. Chris Bloss sat in fourth place, a few seconds behind Swoll and a few seconds ahead of Frye. Enzo Lopes made the move on Harmon for the final transfer spot, just as Stilez Robertson began challenging Frye for fifth place. Jarrett Frye ran into some bike issues late in the race, appearing to be with the clutch, and dropped from fifth place to outside of a transfer position. Seth Hammaker continued his winning ways and took the heat race win after a flawless ride.

250 Heat Two

The second 250 heat was off and Justin Cooper was off to the early lead with Cameron McAdoo just behind. Justin Cooper made a slight mistake going into the whoops and got kicked sideways, and although he saved it, he gave up two positions. Garrett Marchbanks sat in second place but was getting pressured from Justin Cooper. Jake Masterpool went down hard in the whoops, ending his night. Back up front, Cameron McAdoo continued to lead with just over a 2 second lead on Marchbanks. Justin Cooper then was finally able to make the pass for second on Marchbanks after a faster run through the rythym lane. Nate Thrasher sat a few seconds ahead of Jordon Smith in fourth place, but only a second off of Marchbanks. As the heat race neared an end, Justin Cooper reeled in McAdoo and the lead. Although he ran lap times about a second faster, Justin Cooper ran out of time to make the pass for the lead, as Cameron McAdoo took the checkered flag first and snagged the heat race win.

250 LCQ

The 250 LCQ was off and Coty Schock was off to the early lead, but Hardy Munoz dove inside on the second corner and took the lead. Coty then responded a few sections later and regained the lead. Thury then made a pass on Munoz and Ty Masterpool followed just moments later. Munoz continued to loose spots, as he dropped outside of a transfer position. Michael Hicks went down at the end of the whoops while running in the final transfer spot, ending his night. Meanwhile, Coty Schock continued to lead, just ahead of Thury and Masterpool. On the final lap, Thury took Coty wide and made the pass for the lead. Dominic Thury took the LCQ win and moved on to his first main.

250 Main Event

As the gate dropped for the 250 main event, Mitchell Harrison was off to the early lead after a great start. Jalek Swoll sat in second place, with Kyle Peters just behind. Justin Cooper went down after the whoops and dropped to 19th place. Hunter Lawrence sat just behind Peters in fourth place. Meanwhile, Cameron McAdoo sat back in seventh place, just ahead of Seth Hammaker, and they both had their work cut out for them. Harrison continued to lead with just about two seconds on Swoll. Cameron McAdoo was charging, as he made the pass on Jordon Smith for fifth place, just as Hunter Lawrence passed Kyle Peters for third. Seth Hammaker went down in the same spot as Justin Cooper and dropped to fifteenth. Back up front, Hunter Lawrence began pressuring Jalek Swoll for second place. As Hunter began taking shots at Swoll, McAdoo reeled in and caught the pair. Hunter Lawrence went from third to first in the rythym lane. Moments later, Cameron McAdoo went down in the whoops, and then got back on the track in the section after, just behind Justin Cooper. Hunter now sat three seconds out front and Mitchel Harrison, who was leading just laps ago, sat four seconds down in third. Nate Thrasher made the pass on Jordon Smith for sixth place, but then Smith responded a few sections later and dove to the inside. Justin Cooper then came into the picture and passed Thrasher for seventh. A few laps later, McAdoo made the pass on Thrasher and set his sights on Justin Cooper. Up front, Hunter Lawrence continued to lead with a comfortable lead on Swoll. Justin Cooper caught up to Jordon Smith and Mitchel Harrison, who were having a battle of their own for fifth. After a few laps, Cooper was able to make the pass on Smith stick and secure sixth place for the time being. Justin Cooper then took Harrison wide as they turned onto the straight and took over fifth place. As the checkered flag waved, Hunter Lawrence took his first supercross win.

450 Heat One

As the first 450 race of the night left the gate, Aaron Plessinger was off to the early lead alongside Chase Sexton. Just behind the leaders, Roczen and Barcia swapped positions and lines as they battled for third early on. Barcia sprints to the inside of Roczen and made the pass momentarily, but Roczen squared him up in the turn after to retake third. As Aaron Plessinger built on his lead, Barcia continued to pressure Roczen for third. Justin Brayton hit the deck, ending his night. Justin Barcia took Roczen wide going into the whoops and took third place again from Ken. With a minute left on the clock, Chase Sexton began to reel in Plessinger and challenge for the lead. However, Aaron was able to hold off Sexton for a few more laps and snag another heat race win. On the final lap, Dean Wilson exploded his rear wheel, ending his heat.

450 Heat Two

As the final heat race of the night left the gate, Cooper Webb was off to the early lead with Malcolm Stewart just behind. Eli Tomac dove to the inside of Moranz early-on to snag third place. Tomac then set his sights on Malcolm and second place. Broc Tickle passed Savatgy for fourth place in the turn after the finish line. Eli Tomac squared up Stewart going into the whoops and blitzed into second. Jason Anderson continued to make passes as he battled through the pack after a bad start. Joey Savatgy repassed Tickle for fourth place late in the race. With less than a minute on the clock, Anderson passed Moranz and secured a transfer position. As the checkered flag waved, Cooper Webb took the heat race win three seconds ahead of Tomac.

450 LCQ

Kevin Moranz was off to another great start in the LCQ, as he sat in the lead with Justin Starling trailing. Dean Wilson got a bad start and was outside of a transfer spot at the end of the first lap. However, Wilson wasted no time and made some quick passes as he entered the fourth place spot. Dean then set his sights on Brandon Hartranft, who he blitzed by through the whoops. Just a few laps later, Wilson found himself blitzing through the whoops again and this time into the lead. With two laps to go, Cade Clason took Hartranft wide and off the track, but Hartranft came back on and in front of Cade. The two battled for the final transfer spot for the remainder of the race but Hartranft was able to hold off Clason. Meanwhile, Dean Wilson took the LCQ win after a hard charge through the pack.

Following the finish, Hartranft was bumped back two positions for getting on the throttle while off-track to re-enter in from of Clason.

450 Main Event

Cooper Webb was off to a great start and the early lead in the 450 main event. Eli Tomac and Ken Roczen sat just behind, but Tomac was already applying the pressure on Webb. Jason Anderson went down in the first corner. Cooper Webb set the pace early-on, as he pulled away from Tomac and Roczen a tad on the opening laps. On the third lap, Roczen took a shot at Tomac and second place but was unsuccessful. Aaron Plessinger took Vince Friese down before the whoops, collecting Broc Tickle and a few other riders. Justin Barcia was making passes inside the top-10 after a bad start, as he made the move on Bogle for seventh. Aaron Plessinger caught up to the rear wheel of Martin Davalos, who ran in fifth, and then made a quick pass in the corner before the whoops. A few laps later, Justin Barcia dove to the inside of Plessinger and took away the fifth place spot. Barcia then caught up to Chase Sexton and began challenging for fourth place, just as Ferrandis made the pass on Davalos for seventh. Justin Barcia ultimately made the pass on Sexton for fourth place. Up front, Eli Tomac was closing in on Webb but made a slight mistake entering the whoops, allowing Webb to break away a little more. Jason Anderson took Ferrandis wide and made the pass for seventh. As the white flag came out, Cooper Webb had stretched his lead on Tomac out to over five seconds. Cooper Webb made it two in a row in Arlington as he snagged another win at round eleven.
