2021 DAYTONA SUPERCROSS | COMPLETE COVERAGE

250 Heat One

As the first race in Daytona left the gate, Jalek Swoll was off to the early lead, but Seth Hammaker was quick to challenge for the lead. As they exited the third corner, Hammaker had secured the lead. Swoll missed a triple at the end of the last lap, allowed Cameron McAdoo to jump past and into second. Joey Crown then began pressuring Swoll for position, and after a couple attempts, Crown passed into third place. Pierce Brown followed Crown by Swoll and into fourth place. Cameron McAdoo then made the pass on his teammate for the lead and quickly began building a cushion on Hammaker. A few laps later, Brown tripled past Crown in the tricky rhythm before the finish. Crown then spun himself out after trying to repass Brown. Alex Martin entered the picture, as he passed into fifth place. Cameron McAdoo was first to the checkered flag and picked up his first the heat race win in Daytona.

250 Heat Two

As 250 heat two left the gate, Hunter Lawrence was off to the early lead with Mitchell Harrison and Jordon Smith trailing behind. Ryan Sipes was running in fourth, but Hardy Munoz nailed him after being unable to slow down in time for the turn, taking Sipes out. The Red Flag came out as the leaders crossed the finish line for the first time, as a few riders were down after the triple.

Restart

Hunter Lawrence was off to the early lead again following the restart, with Jordon Smith just behind. Mitchell Harrison made an early pass for third place, and Ryan Sipes followed. Meanwhile, Justin Cooper sat in eighth place, just ahead of his teammate Jarrett Frye. Carson Mumford challenged Soubeyras for sixth, but was passed by a charging Justin Cooper before he could make the pass. Ryan Sipes and Mitchell Harrison battled for third place, but Mitchell suffered bike problems with just a few laps to go, forcing him out of the race. Stilez Robertson and Justin Cooper made the pass on Sipes for third and fourth. Hunter Lawrence took the checkered flag first and claimed the heat race win.

250 LCQ

The 250 LCQ was off and Joey Crown was off to the early lead after a great start. Ty Masterpool sat in second place early on, but Ryan Surratt made a quick pass for second. Surratt then made a mistake in the sand, giving up two positions. Hardy Munoz made some aggressive moves and passed into second, but then made a big mistake and got tossed off of his yamaha. However, shortly after, the red flag came out as Alves was down hard.

First Restart

The 250 LCQ was back on track and Joey Crown was in the early lead again. Hardy Munoz was just behind in second place, and the restart already mirrored the race before. Mitchell Harrison sat in third. Joey Crown went down hard while leading and was knocked out just before the finish line. And again, the red flag was out.

Second Restart

Ty Masterpool was off to the early lead with Hardy Munoz just behind. Ryan Surratt sat in the final transfer position early-on. Surratt and Eigenmann battled for third place, as Mitchell Harrison closed in on the pair. Eigenmann then went down in the sand and held up Jerry Robin. Surratt then sat in third with Harrison in fourth place, the final transfer position. Up front, Munoz charged past Masterpool and into the lead with 2-to go. As the checkered flag waved, Hardy Munoz took the LCQ win.

250 Main Event

The 250 main event in Daytona was off and Stilez Robertson was off to the early lead, as Justin Cooper was down in the second corner with a group of riders. Alex Martin ran in second place, just in front of Hunter Lawrence. Coty Schock then made a pass on Hunter for third place. Meanwhile, Justin Cooper and Frye battled into the top-15. Mitchell Harrison was out of the main early, we imagine due to bike issues after struggling with that throughout the day. Cameron McAdoo then made a pass on Schock for third, as Hunter Lawrence, who was up front just a few laps ago, got shuffled back to eighth. Justin Cooper made a mistake while battling for 11th and drifted off track, costing a few more positions. Up front, McAdoo continued to charge, as he passed Alex Martin for second place and set his sights on Robertson and the lead. Jordon Smith went down while running in the top-10 and dropped to 14th place. As Justin Cooper worked on Lawrence for 8th place, McAdoo began pressuring Stilez for the lead. Coty Schock made a pass on Alex Martin for third place. Pierce Brown and Jalek Swoll battled over fifth place, as Marchbanks lurked behind the pair. Swoll went off track and had to roll the triple, allowed both Brown and Marchbanks to make the pass. Justin Cooper finally made the move on Lawrence but Hunter then came right back and regained the position on Cooper. Up front, Cameron McAdoo blitzed through the whoops and right by Stilez for the lead. Pierce Brown made the move on Alex Martin for fourth place, and Marchbanks followed just a few laps later. Brown then went on to challenge Schock for third place, where he was able to triple through the rhythm lane and into third place. Schock now had to deal with the charging duo of Marchbanks and Justin Cooper. Just a lap later, both Marchbanks and Cooper were able to pass Coty and enter the top-5. Justin Cooper then stayed on the gas longer through the back section of the track and made the pass on Marchbanks. As the checkered flag waved in Daytona, Cameron McAdoo grabbed his first career victory.

450 Heat One

As the first 450 heat of the night left the gate, Cooper Webb was off to the early lead with Aaron Plessinger just behind. Barcia then came out of no where and dove inside of Plessinger to takeover second place. Plessinger and Barcia began battling over the position, as they swapped lines and rhythms. Plessinger rocketed out of the outside of the sand section and back by Barcia for second. Back in the pack, Dylan Ferrandis creeped into the screen, as he made passes inside the top-10. Just as Ferrandis closed in, Chisholm had a close call through the rythym lane, but fortunately saved it. Back up front, Aaron Plessinger reeled in Cooper Webb and started pressuring for the lead. Plessinger just couldn’t get close enough to make a move on Webb. Meanwhile, Ferrandis had passed both Friese and Tickle to move into fifth place. Cooper Webb took the checkered flag first and snagged the heat race win.

450 Heat Two

The second 450 heat race of the night was off and Ken Roczen was off to the early lead, while Jason Anderson drifted wide off the start and spun out. Mitchell Oldenburg and Malcolm Stewart battled for second early-on, but Malcolm took control of the position before they clicked off the first lap. Oldenburg then went down in the sand, which hung up Shane McElrath as well. Eli Tomac then sat in third place, with Marvin Musquin behind him. Tomac cased a triple through the rhythm lane, allowing Musquin to close in. Up front, Malcolm Stewart continued to keep pressure on Roczen in the lead, as the two sat about a second apart. Malcolm got within a second and a few bike lengths of Ken, but then the pair had to roll through the whoops as Politelli was down. Ken Roczen then was able to open up a comfortable lead on Stewart. Jason Anderson had passed all the way up to eighth after being down in the first turn. As the checkered flag waved, Ken Roczen took the final heat race win in Daytona.

450 LCQ

As the riders left the gate in the 450 LCQ, Kevin Moranz was off to the early lead with Cade Clason trailing. Clason made the pass for the lead through the rythym lane, just as Dean Wilson and Mitchell Oldenburg joined the picture. Wilson passed into second place but then made a mistake in the sand and gave up two positions. Dean Wilson passed back into third, just before Kyle Chisholm made the pass for the final transfer spot. Meanwhile, Oldenburg caught and passed Clason for the lead and Wilson then passed Clason for second. On the final lap, Dean Wilson blitzed through the whoops, past Oldenburg, and into the lead. Oldenburg made a last minute charge through the final section but came up just a touch short as Dean Wilson took the LCQ win.

450 Main Event

As the gate dropped for the 450 main event, Ken Roczen had a great jump but Cooper Webb took him way wide, allowing Eli Tomac to sneak inside and into the lead. Cooper Webb trailed Tomac with Aaron Plessinger just behind. Ken Roczen sat just behind Malcolm Stewart in seventh place, but he then railed around the outside in the sand and raced past Malcolm. Roczen and Musquin then began battling for fifth place, but Ken was ultimately able to take the position after a few pass attempts. Ken then got by Chase Sexton for fourth place. Meanwhile, Eli Tomac sat 2 seconds ahead of Webb, who was dealing with pressure from Plessinger. Aaron Plessinger made the pass on Webb stick and began racing towards Tomac. Justin Barcia reeled in Chase Sexton and took the inside line to make the pass for seventh. Jason Anderson immediately followed in Barcia footsteps, as he too passed Sexton. Ken Roczen and Cooper Webb began battling for third place, as Malcolm Stewart reeled in the pair. Malcolm made the pass on Roczen through the rhythm lane after Ken cased a triple. Marvin Musquin then entered the picture, as he too wanted a piece of Roczen. Broc Tickle went down hard exiting the sand and appeared to be hurt. Marvin Musquin dropped outside the top-10 and then was seen in the pits. Ken Roczen made the pass on Malcolm and regained fourth place. On the final lap, in the final rhythm lane, Cooper Webb made the pass on Aaron Plessinger for second place. Eli Tomac  took the checkered flag first and snagged his fifth win in Daytona.
