2021 HIGH POINT MOTOCROSS | COMPLETE COVERAGE

The 2021 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship is ready for round three and the 2021 High Point Motocross. The Mount Morris track has been a staple of the series for decades, thanks to its flowing layout between the hillsides and the sticky East Coast dirt that is a technical challenge for riders. As the first East Coast round of the summer tour, we’re eager to see how riders fare on different terrain and in the rain.

The riders at the top of the point standings in both classes are very close. There’s just a one point difference between Roczen and Ferrandis in the 450 Class and ten points between Lawrence and Cooper in the 250 Class, with a small spread covering the rest of the field after four motos. A good finish during this early portion of the season is a must because with so accomplished riders in contention for top-20 finishes, a poor score now puts them at a very big deficit.

It’s tough to predict a favorite for round three, though, because an incoming weather system has the potential to change everything. Current forecasts call for isolated storms and strong winds, with the heaviest expected to come in the middle of the day. This is a common concern for Mount Morris, though, and the track crew knows how to work the sticky clay into something raceable.

It seems like the morning’s Timed Qualifying sessions will be mostly dry, so riders will get a chance to learn the layout of the Pennsylvania property before it becomes a quagmire.
