2021 INDIANAPOLIS ONE SUPERCROSS | COMPLETE COVERAGE

Timed Qualifying is complete at the 2021 Indianapolis One Supercross, the first of three rounds in the 2021 Monster Energy Supercross Series that will take place at Lucas Oil Stadium. Today’s afternoon qualifying sessions proved that yes, we’re in for the typical “Indy SX” with rutted track conditions, a technical course design, and very close action. There was some early confusion about the best way to run the start (the original track layout had riders literally jumping over turn one moments after they went through it), but that’s all been sorted out for the night’s race.

250 EAST COAST REGION | QUALIFYING REPORT

Team Honda HRC’s Jett Lawrence was quick all day, but the young rider had his share of small mistakes and issues early in the day. He figured it out late in the last session and put in a 47.278.

Incoming championship leader Christian Craig set the pace in the 250 Class for much of the day. The Monster Energy/Star Racing/Yamaha rider was fastest in both Free Practice and the first Timed Qualifying outing, and managed to go even faster in the final outing but his 47.572 time was just a tick off the lap put in by Lawrence.

Technical tracks seem to suit Michael Mosiman. The Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GASGAS Factory Racing rider was third overall in the small-bore class with a 47.630 lap.

Colt Nichols is tied with teammate Craig for the championship lead, and both riders have red plates on their Monster Energy/Star Racing/Yamaha YZ250F bikes. Nichols was fourth-fastest of the day with a 47.865, the last guy in the group to be under 48-seconds.

Jo Shimoda is the lone Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki rider on the track this weekend. A 48.112 time put him fifth overall.

Max Vohland is most likely out for tonight’s race. The Red Bull KTM rider had a spill in the whoops during the final session and was helped off the track by the Alpinestars Mobile Medical staff with what looked to be a leg injury.

450 CLASS | QUALIFYING REPORT

Even with a challenging track build, deep ruts, and plenty of options, twelve riders still managed to get within a second of each other in the 450 Class.

Eli Tomac spent a part of each session trying to get a big jump line put together in the long rhythm lane. We couldn’t tell if he cleared it on the way to the day’s fastest lap, a 47.194, but it’s something the Monster Energy Kawasaki rider has on his mind for the night’s race.

Marvin Musquin is expected to do well, and maybe even win, during the Indianapolis races. The Red Bull KTM rider has finished on the podium’s top step multiple times here, and a 47.363 lap showed that he has the speed.

Zach Osborne is looking to put Houston behind him, and a 47.384 by the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing rider was a good way to do it. He was third overall in the class.

How close are riders on the stopwatch? Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Adam Cianciarulo was fourth-fastest after a 47.388 lap. Yes, that’s 0.004 off Osborne.

Incoming championship leader Ken Roczen was very fast in the free practice and first Timed Qualifying session. Like Craig, the Team Honda HRC rider’s best time came in the last session, but the 47.428 ended up being fifth overall.

Dean Wilson is out for the night. The Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing rider tried to grit out a broken big toe-sprained ankle-bruised knee during qualifying, but the pain was too much for him to do it all night.
