Presented by O’Neal

We’ve heard about the Singapore MX Beach Race for years now, and we finally had to come to check it all out. Laid out on a private beach of the Shangri La Rasa Sentosa Beach Resort, the SGMX event is the only legal, sanctioned, motocross race in the country, as there are no legal places to ride off-road bikes in Singapore. Of course, that doesn’t mean there are not plenty of off-road enthusiasts in Singapore, as evidenced by the turnout at the race. Wanna know what makes the event even more amazing? The track crew is required to have the beach returned to normal condition the day after the checkered flag flies!

Organized by Pablo Toribio, the race attracts racers from many nearby Asian countries, as well as from as far away as the United States, South America, and Europe. The fastest racers on hand were SGB Racing’s Alex Ray, who has competed at the event once before, promoter Toribio, and FIM Women’s World Championship contender Jamie Astudillo. While the majority of the competitors are relatively new to motocross, we were surprised by the high level of machinery, riding gear, and protective equipment. And of course, the enthusiasm and love for the sport were as high in Singapore as it is anywhere else in the world.
