CHECK OUT OUR COMPLETE COVERAGE OF THE 2022 ST. LOUIS SUPERCROSS

Five different winners in six races, close battles from the gate drop to the finish line, and hard slams that took a toll on a weary field of competitors. The Triple Crown at the 2022 St. Louis Supercross had it all, as riders pushed through the thirteenth round and into the closing stretch of the 2022 Monster Energy Supercross Championship season.

250 Main Event One

The first race of the night was off, as the 250 class left the gate and RJ Hampshire led them around the first turn with Mitchell Oldenburg just behind. Jordon Smith  sat in third until Kyle Chisholm made a pass after the sand. Jett Lawrence crossed the finish line in ninth place on the first lap after a bad start. Joshua Varize went down before the tunnel and collected Pierce Brown. Brown was then seen pushing his bike off the track and into the mechanics area. Enzo Lopes then went over the bars as he went off the track in the whoops. Back up front, Jordon Smith was able to repass Chisholm for third place. A lap later, Jett Lawrence caught and passed Kyle for fourth place and focused ahead. Jordon Smith then crashed while running in third place and dropped to 6th. While running in the lead, RJ got sideways off a lip and crashed into a tuff block, dropping him back to third. Mitchell Oldenburg was then handed the lead, but Jett was just behind and pressuring. After a better drive through the whoops, Jett went inside of Mitchell to take over the race lead. On the final lap, RJ Hampshire looked inside of Mitchell and made the pass for second place. After passing into the lead, Jett laid down a few more fast laps and then crossed the checkered flag to take the first 250 Main Event win.

250 Main Event Two

As the field in the second 250 Main Event left the gate, RJ Hampshire was off to the early lead again with Oldenburg and Lawrence just behind. Oldenburg edged out Lawrence and then took to the lead after a mistake from Hampshire on the first lap. Rj then passed back into the lead after the whoops. Meanwhile, Pierce Brown was back in the mechanics area and out early with what appeared to be the same mechanical issue. Jett Lawrence made the pass on Oldenburg just after the whoops for pick up second place. With just over 7-minutes left on the clock the red flag came out for Kyle Peters, who was down in the technical section after the sand.

Restart

The second 250 Main Event was back on track as Rj Hampshire beat the rest of the class to the first turn and exited with the early lead, again. Jordon Smith edged out Oldenburg for second place, but Mitchell made a quick pass for second place after the second corner. During the second lap, Jett Lawrence made a pass for fourth place on Jace Owen. A lap later, Jett bumped Smith out of the main line in a tight left-hander to take over third place. Another lap down and Jett made another pass, this time on Oldenburg for second. Lawrence then cut under Hampshire after the whoops to take the lead momentarily, but RJ cut back to the inside in the following corner. However, Jett held the preferred line following the second pass and secured the race lead. During the battle for the lead, Kyle Chisholm passed Jordon Smith for fourth place. On the final lap, Rj Hampshire hammered through the whoops and made a last stitch attempt at a pass for the lead, but lost traction and went down. Fortunately, Jett and Rj sat just over 10-seconds ahead of Oldenburg in third, so Hampshire had plenty of time to remount and cross the finish line in second. Jett Lawrence crossed the finish line and secured the second Main Event win.

250 Main Event Three

The third and final 250 Main Event of the night was off and RJ Hampshire was off to another holeshot, this time with Phil Nicoletti behind. Pierce Brown made an early pass on Chisholm for third place. Jett Lawrence went down at the end of the first lap after hitting the back of another riders bike in the whoops, placing the points-leader in dead last. Up front, Brown made a pass on Nicoletti for second place. Lance Kobusch went down hard on lap three, ending his night. Pierce Brown was now pressuring Rj Hampshire for the lead and made the pass after jumping to the inside following the sand corner. A lap later, Pierce laid it down while leading and dropped back to fourth place, just behind Kyle Chisholm. RJ Hampshire was back in the lead with Phil Nicoletti just over a second behind. Jordon Smith went down at the end of the whoops and remounted in ninth place. With two laps to go, Pierce Brown went down again and dropped back to seventh. RJ Hampshire took the checkered flag first and grabbed his first career victory. Phil Nicoletti finished in second place, just ahead of Kyle Chisholm. After coming from dead last, Jett Lawrence crossed the finish line in fifth place.

450 Main Event One

The gate was down and the opening 450 Main Event was off, as Chase Sexton grabbed the holeshot and led the field out of the first turn. Marvin Musquin was just behind Sexton and Vince Friese sat behind him. Malcolm Stewart passed into fourth place at the end of the first lap and was pressuring Vince before diving inside to take over third place. Eli Tomac followed past Vince Friese, just before Dean Wilson had a huge get-off in the whoops. As Sexton continued to build on his race lead, Dean Wilson laid on the side of the whoop section unable to get up. Malcolm Stewart began to reel-in Marvin Musquin and pressure for second place. Just as Mookie reeled in Marvin, Eli Tomac began to up the pace and was soon challenging the Husqvarna rider for third. Malcolm continued to give chase to Marvin, despite being pursued by Tomac. Jason Anderson made a mistake and washed out while pressuring Barcia for fifth place, fortunately, Anderson remounted quickly and didn’t loose a position. Alex Martin went down with two laps to go after coming up short in the long rhythm lane. Eli Tomac pulled alongside Malcolm on the final lap, but Malcolm challenged right back and pulled back away to hold onto third place. Chase Sexton crossed the checkered flag in first place and grabbed the Main Event win after a flawless race.

450 Main Event Two

The second 450 Main Event was off and Marvin Musquin was off to the early lead with Vince Friese and Jason Anderson just behind. Jason Anderson went inside of Vince after the whoops to take over second place, as Sexton cut under in the turn after to take over third. Malcolm Stewart went down hard after colliding with a tuff block and bending his right leg awkwardly. A few minutes later, Malcolm was seen limping off of the track with the medical crew. Up front, Jason Anderson was now pressuring Marvin Musquin for the lead. Malcolm Stewart was now back on his bike and attempting to get back on the course. Justin Barcia and Eli Tomac were swapping lines and battling over fourth place. After a few laps back on the track, Malcolm Stewart pulled back off and headed to the truck. Marvin Musquin laid down consistent lap after consistent lap and crossed the checkered flag first to snag the second 450 Main Event win.

450 Main Event Three

The final Main Event in St. Louis was off and Eli Tomac was off to the early lead with Marvin Musquin and Jason Anderson just behind. Malcolm Stewart made a quick pass on Hartranft to pick up fourth place. As the field entered their fifth lap, Tomac, Musquin, Anderson, and Stewart sat a second apart from each other. Chase Sexton made a pass on Barcia for fifth momentarily, but Justin was quick to rebound and pass Chase back. Jason Anderson slid out after the whoops and dropped back to seventh place. Sexton then made the pass on Barcia stick and went ahead and passed Stewart to put the Husqvarna rider between himself and Justin. Barcia then made the pass on Malcolm for fourth place. Up front, Eli Tomac continued to lead and had now built up nearly a three-second lead on Musquin. With three laps to go, Marvin Musquin had closed back in on Tomac and cut the gap down to a second, however, Eli upped his pace and again stretched it out. Jason Anderson made the pass on Malcolm Stewart for fifth place with only a few laps to go. After going 4-4 in the earlier Main Events, Eli Tomac snagged the third race win. Marvin Musquin crossed the checkered flag in second place but took the overall win in St. Louis with his earlier race results.
