Round 10 of the Motocross Nationals rolled into the legendary Budds Creek Motocross Park. Great weather and excellent track conditions greeted the racers, including several new rookies who made their professional debuts at round 10. Would Julien Beaumer, Casey Cochran, Mark Fineis, and Daxton Bennick play into the day’s final results? Time will tell…

Red Bull KTM’s Maximus Vohland was the quickest rider in the first qualifying session and controlled the leaderboard through the first half of the second session with his original 2:00.994, but Monster Energy/Star Racing/Yamaha’s Haiden Deegan took the pole with about seven minutes left in the final session by breaking into the sub-two-minute mark at 1:59.608. Deegan’s teammate and qualifying specialist turned in a masterful lap late in the session and earned the top-qualifying position with an impressive 1:59.545.

“I thought it would be a lot better in this second session but it was still pretty sloppy,” said Cooper. “I was having High Point flashbacks in those wood chip rollers before the finish. I gotta keep that pace in the moto and get a good start and have a good day!”

Vohland’s first-session time was good enough for third overall. Championship points leader was an uncharacteristic 10th fastest with a 2:02.001.

Honda HRC’s Chase Sexton was the fastest rider on the track in the opening 450 timed qualifying session and his 1:58.500 would stand as his quickest of the day. New 450 National MX Champion Jett Lawrence turned in a heater at the end of the second session , however, and stole the pole position with a blazing 1:57.084.

“This week I’ve felt more motivated than ever,” said Lawrence. “I hate losing and I don’t want to lose. The track is really muddy out there: instead of Budds Creek it’s more like Mudds Creek!”

Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Adam Cianciarulo earned third fastest with a 1:59.846.
