After a weekend off, the 2023 Monster Energy Supercross Series is back in motion, as round twelve of the tour is well underway in Glendale. The fastest riders in the world spent Saturday afternoon learning the technical track that fills the center of State Farm Stadium, and to no surprise, the lap times are incredibly close. Just fractions of a second split the front-runners in the 250 West Coast and 450 Class on the qualifying sheets, which ratcheted up the anticipation for tonight’s triple crown event even more.

Here’s a look at the fastest lap times and results…

Team Honda HRC’s Jett Lawrence topped the charts in both sessions of 250SX timed-qualifying. Though, the race course became slower as the afternoon riding sessions went on; making Jett’s 56.930 in the first session of qualifying the fastest lap time overall.

Pierce Brown seemed to gelling with the Glendale track, as he laid down some of the fastest laps in both sessions of timed-qualifying. Pierce ultimately ended up in second place overall after logging a 57.306 in the first session of practice.

Rj Hampshire rounded out the top-3 in 250SX timed qualifying; the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna rider bettered his best time in the final session of riding and logged a 57.901.

250 LCQ

After a great start, Luke Kalaitzian led Matt Moss for a majority of the race, but Matt ultimately made the pass for the race lead with three laps to go. Austin Politelli went inside of Schlosser with two laps to go and made contact, which sent Austin into the ground and allowed Schlosser to hold on to the final transfer position. Matt Moss won the LCQ race and took Kalaitzian, Amerine, and Schlosser with him to the night show.

Chase Sexton was one of the only riders to better his time in the final session of timed-qualifying. The Team Honda HRC rider laid down a blistering fast 56.248 late in the last practice to not only better his time, but also jump ahead of Eli Tomac in the overall qualifying results.

Eli Tomac’s fast lap from the first session of timed-qualifying held up to be the second best lap time in the 450SX class. The Monster Energy/Star Racing/Yamaha rider will have second gate-pick in tonight’s first triple crown race.

Adam Cianciarulo also bettered his best lap in the final session of qualifying, which landed the Monster Energy Kawasaki rider in third place overall on the time sheets.

Aaron Plessinger rode back to the truck early in the final session of qualifying after having some sort of issue with his Red Bull KTM’s suspension.

Unfortunately, Christian Craig went down hard in the whoops during free-practice and was taken to the local hospital for further evaluation.

450 LCQ

Kevin Moranz worked his way into the race lead on the opening lap, while Josh Hill shuffled up to second place after a few laps and passes. With three laps to go, Josh Hill made the pass on Moranz for the race lead. Josh Hill took the victory in the 450SX LCQ and took Kevin Moranz, Joshua Cartwright, and Justin Starling with him to the night show.
