2023 Mini Major West Saturday Sights

Saturday

Presented by Seven MX

The eighth annual Mini Major West by Seven MX went off last weekend at Glen Helen Raceway and it’s hard to believe how big the minis-only event has grown. When we launched the event at Milestone MX Park in 2016 under the TransWorld Motocross banner, we hoped that it would generate enough interest to sustain a race without big bikes. And boy, did it! Through the years, the event has grown steadily and has even expanded to Eastern and Central versions. In fact, in 2023 the Mini Major franchise has grown to four, as Lincoln Trail Motorsports in Casey, Illinois, will bring the MM to the North East!

This year’s Mini Major West was held at Glen Helen for the first time and over 900 entries filled the gates at the legendary facility. Great vendor activation and plenty of fun activities kept the kids busy in between motos. Full photo galleries are coming soon with the race report, but for now, here are some of the coolest things I saw on Saturday!

John Griffin from Red Line Oils was on hand to present a free bottle of Red Line Two-Stroke Oil to every entrant. It’s great to have Red Line Oil’s support for another year!

Seven MX was, as always, the title sponsor of the event and had its huge Seven village set up trackside. The number of kids wearing Seven MX has grown steadily over the years, and it’s always easy to spot them on the track.

A sand area for track building in front of the Seven MX setup kept kids busy all day long!

Can’t build a proper moto track without some moisture, right?

ASV Inventions is a huge supporter of the Swapmoto Race Series and the Mini Major is no different. We saw the ASV crew installing its folding levers on bikes all weekend long.

Bob Weber and 6D Helmets are celebrating 10 years of business in 2023. We caught up with Weber to talk about how he changed the sport with his omnidirectional suspended ATR-1 helmet in an interview elsewhere on the website. Check it out!

The Gel Blaster booth was abuzz with activity every minute of every day as kids loved the chance to blast each other with harmless gel pellets inside the arena!

A look at the Gel Blaster ammo! We even lined up our very own Dominic Gaytan in front of a firing squad of anxious Gel Blaster-armed firing squad!

Nothing wrong with a little friendly fire, right?

OGIO Powersports awarded every first moto holeshot winner with a super-cool duffel bag!

Our friend Todd Ford from Custom Upfits builds some truly special van conversions and plenty of mini dads were checking out their display.

Let’s see…a boot rack, power washer rack, toolbox mount, stereo speakers, solar panels…what more could you want?

Disco Dave runs the tightest starting gate in the business.

Everything is better with friends.

When you run Justin Bogle’s number, your feet have a tendency to leave the pegs…
