One of the things we enjoy most about the 2023 KTM 350 SX-F is the way the bike handles, thanks to the quicker-and freer-revving powerband that the mid-sized 350cc engine produces. While the bike weighs nearly the same as the larger 450 SX-F, its personality and feel on the track are much nimbler and quicker than its bigger brother. We made our 2023 test bike even better when we sent the fork and shock to enzo racing for a KYB Spring Conversion in the fork and a revalve on the shock. With great balance and hold-up, our bike became incredibly plush with excellent bottoming resistance.
In the past, we’ve tested aftermarket engine mounts and have marveled at the detectable difference that either a more rigid or less rigid mount can make when it comes to the way the bike feels on the track. FCP Racing sent us an engine mount kit for the 2023 KTM 350 SX-F that includes billet upper engine mounts that offer more torsional flex than the stock cast aluminum units, and a stiffer titanium front engine mount bolt, which goes through the frame cradles and engine cases.
The stock right-side engine mount has a threaded insert for the exhaust mid-pipe to mount to, but FCP Racing found that separating it into two pieces was both more cost-effective in production, and performed better on the track. That said, a small steel part is bolted over the billet aluminum mount to help support the mid-pipe.

On the track, we found that the 350 SX-F exhibited greater comfort in braking bumps and inspired more confidence in the front-end grip of the bike while tipping into corners. No matter the dirt condition, our test bike enjoyed better front-end feel and traction entering corners, and more precision through the apex. We also noticed that the bike had an even greater level of predictability while sliding under power, as the chassis was less likely to react quickly when losing or gaining unexpected traction. Comfort on slap-down landings was also improved noticeably. and the bike seems to settle quickly so that you can get back on the gas sooner.
At $429, the FCP Racing engine mount kit if not cheap, but it is an investment that makes a noticeable improvement in the bike’s handling characteristics. There is a reason that top-level race teams give their riders many options when setting up their race bikes: small parts can equal a big difference.
