AMSOIL Swapmoto Race Series | Milestone MX | Round Three

After three rounds of exciting racing, we are now halfway through the AMSOIL Swapmoto West Coast Open race series, as round three took place at Milestone Mx Park this past Sunday. The track crew at the Riverside facility made some slight track changes on the days leading up to the race, which made from some exciting racing throughout the day. With perfectly prepped tracks and beautiful weather, it was no wonder why hundreds of racers made their way out for the third round of the AMSOIL West Coast Open series. As for the on-track action; classes seemed to be as stacked as ever, which made for some excellent battles following the first gate-drop.

After having such a great time at round two of the AMSOIL series, Hunter Lawrence came out to the third round of the series for another day of racing. However, the GEICO Honda racer wasn’t alone, as he brought his younger brother Jett Lawrence with him. There is no doubt in the two brother’s capabilities on a bike, though their raw speed and flawless riding style still seemed to amaze spectators. The two lined up together in the Pro 250F class, and after a great start from Jett, it was on. The brothers seemed to use every inch of the track to their own advantage, as they swapped lines throughout the intense race. However, older brother Hunter was unable to get by his brother in the first moto. Come second moto, Hunter seemed to have an extra edge on Jett through the developed roughness amongst the track. And with a second moto win, Hunter was able to snag the overall class win. All said and done, Factory Connection AMSOIL Honda’s Jett Lawrence put up a great fight against his older brother, and we’re excited to see what both of the brothers can do in the states.

Following the Lawrence brothers Pro 250F moto, they re-lined the gates to compete in the Pro Open (125-450) class. However, they quickly realized they’d have to fight a little harder to win this class, as Brayden Lessler made his name known in the first moto. With great race-craft, and 200 extra cc’s, as Brayden competed in the Pro Open class aboard his YZ450F, the racer out of Ramona, CA nailed his lines and rode to a well-earned first moto win. Coming into a rougher moto two, Brayden Lessler knew he had to duplicate his performance in the first moto to better his chances at the overall class victory. Soon after the gate drop, Hunter Lawrence was able to make the pass on Brayden and ride to a moto win. However, Hunter’s third-place finish in moto one hindered him from receiving the overall class win. And like that, Brayden’s consistency throughout the day earned him the overall win in the Pro Open(125-450) class. Way to run with the big dogs, Brayden.

Once again, the turnout at the AMSOIL West Coast Open series did not disappoint, as the Riverside facility was packed full of racers. As a result of the large turnout, the Open 85-150F/Supermini class experienced it’s largest presence that we can remember. 35 youngsters filled the gates at round three of the AMSOIL West Coast Open series to contest for the Supermini class victory. In a class this stacked and unpredictable, consistency is arguably the most important race strategy. In the first moto, Landin Pepperd appeared to be the classes biggest threat, as he raced his KTM to a dominating moto one win. Though, the ripper out of Wasilla, AK didn’t have it as easy in his second moto and was forced to battle up towards the front. While Landin began picking off riders, Seth Nemec was up front and on his way to a moto two win. And with Seth’s second place finish in the first moto, he earned the overall Supermini class victory!
