Wyatt Roysdon is a cool 10-year-old racer who has been competing with our club since the TWMX days. In fact, he was the lucky winner of the 2019 Yamaha YZ250F that we gave away at the conclusion of last season! We got to catch up with the Corona kid in between motos at the West Coast Open series finale…

How did you get into racing motorcycles?

I’ve just been riding for a while. I’ve been riding since I was two years old. We started out with baseball and I didn’t really like it. Then we tried motocross and now I’ve been riding for eight years now.

How long have you been racing for?

About a year and a half.

How do you like the competitive nature of racing?

A lot better than baseball!

Do all your buddies know that you race moto? What do they think about it?

Yeah, they do know and they all think it’s cool! All of the fourth grade class knows about me riding motocross.

Have you been racing our series for a while?

Yeah, I started this series and I was also doing it when it was TransWorld.

Do you like racing with us? How do we compare to other clubs?

It’s run a lot better!

How did you hook up with Jordan from Moto XXX?

I got it through O’Neal. I started buying Moto XXX stuff and the I won the Yamaha YZ250F at the race series and there was a picture taken of me where you could just see the “Moto XXX” perfectly. That’s how I got all of this right now!

Did you know that Jordan is a famous musician also? Do you like his old music?

Yes and yes.

What is your favorite Strung Out song?

Rats in the Walls I guess.

Wyatt and Jordan Burns of Moto XXX.

How far do you want to go with motocross?

A while. I want to turn pro!

Did you know that to turn pro you need to eat right, train hard, and all of that stuff?

Yeah, I’ve been dedicated really good. I’ve been going to a lot of races. We’re going to Mammoth this year.

So how is this series going for you so far?

Good, I just got second in points overall and this is my first ever season in novice.

You’re on a KTM 65, what have you done to make it a good bike for you?

We’ve just run a lot of tests overall. I’ve gone to Bill’s Pipes a bunch, they put it on the dyno and tuned it. I’ve had this bike for almost 200 hours, so we know a lot about this KTM.

Do you like the guys over at Bill’s Pipes? They’re all pretty cool except for that Brandon guy…

Yeah, the guys there are super cool. (Laughs)

This is what I’d like to see more of! Myself growing up in the PNW knowing the “meca” for motocross and getting your name out there requires traveling to outside races and time in California, Loretta’s, and now amateur supercross events, to keep racing against the best. Exposure like this to keep tabs on up and coming racers would be great and keep these kids motivated. RV has his track at Grays, maybe run the idea by him and let him pick a racer (50, 65,85,125,250,450) doesn’t matter that stands out to him throughout the weekend and offer to do a quick interview to publish on your media outlets! I’m sure there are other race promoters across the map that would love to feed you content on racers at there local tracks that maybe don’t have the “name” or funds to make the big races that could use some help on getting there name out there! Keep these kids and families motivated!
