The Yamaha racer went on to win the 450 Novice class in dominant fashion, and he had a great time in the process. Learn more about Edgar in this interview!

How did you get into motocross and how long have you been riding?

I’ve been riding for about 17 years, but as you know, motocross takes a lot of money and time away from people. So, I’ve been trying to keep calm with injuries, it’s hard to stay safe in this sport.

Are you in college? Where are you going to school and what are you studying?

I go to Chaffey College and I’m studying mechanics, but for dealerships. So for motorcycle stuff!

Is this a hobby or are you hoping to turn pro someday?

As of right now, I think it turned into a hobby because of all the injuries. If there’s a chance, I’m definitely trying to go to Loretta’s next year.

You’ve raced with other clubs and raced with us, how does our program compare?

Oh, this is by far the best. The way it is organized. Others don’t even have a little bit of love for the sport.

What is it about racing that you really enjoy? What keeps you coming back?

Just the fact that when you’re riding and you’re racing, you don’t feel any problems. Well, except being tired. You just have fun!

What do you think your strength is as a racer?

I believe my best strength is probably the whoops. There are some good whoops here.

What are your favorite tracks?

Right now my home track is Milestone. So Milestone because it is close! Actually, I think my best track is Glen Helen, I like the roughness and the big hills.

You talk about injuries a bunch, how have you been hurt?

Collarbone, groin, femur, two ribs, two wrists, and elbow!

Dang! Yet you keep coming back?

I love this sport, man. I have to keep coming back.

Are you coached at all or you all self-taught?

Self-taught.

Do you like to watch the races, go on websites and stuff? Have you checked out swapmotolive.com?

I just recently saw the Cole Seely show. I really like the format, the way you guys have a whole set up and interview them.
