Omar Ibarra was never able to ride or race motocross when he lived in Mexico, but now that he lives in California he has been able to realize a lifelong dream and participate in the sport he loves. With some translation help from his buddy Edgar Contreras, we were able to learn a little bit about our new Swapmotop Race Series competitor.

How did you get into motocross?

When I was in Mexico, I never rode a bike because money is difficult over there. When I came over here, as soon as I had the opportunity, I knew I had to buy a dirtbike. I started riding at Milestone.

What is it about motocross racing that you love?

I love the adrenaline. I love seeing all the people and support.

What has been the hardest thing for you to learn?

I think the turns because there is less advantage because of my height.

What do you love about being at the races, have you raced very much?

The amount of support and all the people that come out to race, I really love seeing that. I have done about 12-15 races.

Do you come with Edgar all the time?

Yes!

What is your job during the week?

I install tile.

Is this your only hobby?

Yes! I love this sport so much.

Who is your rider, your inspiration?

Eli Tomac because ever since I saw him at Vegas, his intensity after he was already tired was so cool the way he attacked the track. I love the way he attacks the track.
