Michael Lindsay is reporting that Cameron McAdoo will join the Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/KTM team as a fill-in rider for the upcoming rounds of the 2019 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship. This has been a transitional year for McAdoo and TLD KTM will be the third team that he’s been a part of in 2019; he initially signed to the CTR Motorsports team for the 250 East Coast region, but re-joined the GEICO Honda squad when they needed a last-minute rider for the 250 West Coast region and finished in third place during the 250 East-West Showdown at the Las Vegas Supercross. Once the Supercross season wrapped up and all of GEICO Honda’s riders were back to full health, McAdoo was back without a full-time ride, but the team loaned him a CRF450R to stay sharp for when another team in the pits would need his services. He will spend the next week shaking down the KTM 250 SX-F before lining up for the 2019 High Point Motocross, the fourth round of the summer series. These races will be important for McAdoo, as he is in need of a contract for the 2020 race season and good results will put him on the radar of teams.
This is a good pick up for Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/KTM. Mitchell Falk has been sidelined since Hangtown due to a broken collarbone that required surgery and Sean Cantrell has not yet raced a National after injuries he suffered in the Supercross season. The team brought Australian racer Wilson Todd under their tent for the Fox Raceway and Thunder Valley rounds but with the Australian Motocross championship set to resume after an extended break, Todd is headed back down under.
We’ll have more with McAdoo about his new deal in the coming days…
So happy McAdoo got a ride. He deserves it. Maybe time for an update of his life on one of your podcasts?!
Really hope he can land a full time ride with them he deserves it
