Welcome to Check Point, a new weekly feature that will cover the ongoings in the off-road motorcycle racing world, presented by Moose Racing. Although motocross and Supercross is the center of the SML universe, our staff has massive respect for the varied disciplines of off-road, from SuperEnduro to Rally to GNCC to Big Six, and we always have an eye on what’s happening in the professional racing series. Every week we will bring updates from around the world, including race results, photos, video highlights, and new bike or product debuts.

Since this is an early installment of the feature, we want to hear your feedback. Drop a comment below and let us know what you think or what you want to see.

GNCC SERIES ANNOUNCES UPDATES TO 2020 RACE SEASON

Another week, another update to the 2020 GNCC calendar. On Tuesday, the Race Leadership Team announced changes for multiple rounds of the off-road series, including the postponement of the next event on the list and the possibility of an event being run in July.

Due to ongoing restrictions that limit large gatherings, the 2020 Mountain Ridge GNCC in Pennsylvania will no longer take place on May 2-3. The RLT’s current decision to postpone events only runs through the first weekend in May; the GNCC schedule has an opening on May 16-17, which means the Mountain Ridge round could easily be pushed two weeks.

The organizers of GNCC and Full Gas Sprint Enduro races came to an agreement regarding schedule changes in June, as the Full Gas Sprint Enduro has agreed to postpone an event previously scheduled for June 13-14 so that the GNCC series could reserve the same weekend. The Full Gas Sprint Enduro series will now race July 4-5 at a venue that is yet to be announced.

The updated 2020 GNCC series schedule is listed below…

May 16-17 | TBA
May 30-31 | John Penton, OH
June 13-14 | TBA
June 27-28 | Snowshoe, WV

Sept. 12-13 | Mountaineer, WV
Sept. 26-27 | Tomahawk, NY

You’ve seen footage from the WESS Enduro Championship at some point in the last year. Maybe it was POV footage from the Extreme XL Lagares Hard Enduro, as clips of riders ripping through the tight stairways of a city in Portugal always seem to go viral. Or it could have been coverage Ryan Sipes’ impressive attempt to take on the Erzbergrodeo in Austria, only to fall victim to the Iron Giant. These two races are part of the WESS tour, which we’ve become fans of in the last few months.

With no new racing happening, now is a perfect time to catch up with highlights from the 2019 championship. Energy drink giant Red Bull is a massive supporter of the series and they produced 20-minute-plus highlight videos from all seven rounds of last year’s tour, which show a mix of the on-trail action and the personalities of the competitors. After a few minutes of watching, you’ll figure out if Manuel L
