Checking in With Derek Drake

Presented by O’Neal

The Eastern Regional 250 Supercross Championship kicks off this weekend in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and a whole new crop of 250 racers will line up behind the starting gate. Among them will be California native Derek Drake, aboard a potent BarX/Chaparral/Suzuki RM-Z250. Throughout his short professional racing career, Drake has struggled with a rare cardiac disorder that has kept him from obtaining a high level of fitness that would allow him to realize the potential that he has on a motorcycle. A couple of recent heart surgeries, however, have allowed him to make huge strides forward, and Drake hopes to finally enjoy a breakthrough season in 2022.
