Checking in With Jason “Rango” Montoya

Jason “Rango” Montoya started out as a super fan of the Stewart family, but by chance, he landed a gig as a practice bike mechanic for the family several years ago and has worked his way into an enviable position as Malcolm Stewart’s number-one guy. When Malcolm signed with the Monster Energy/Star Racing/Yamaha team for 2021, he asked to bring his own mechanic with him and since then, Montoya has been drafted into the “factory mechanic” category for the first time in his career. We caught up with Montoya at the Stewart Compound yesterday, as Malcolm and others were at the Haines City, Florida, property in between Orlando Supercross events.
