Behind every great rider is a great mechanic. Although most of the attention in a championship chase is directed to the racer, a wrench’s duties to keep the motorcycle in excellent running condition through every single round are equally as important. Monster Energy/Star Racing/Yamaha’s Matt Winters worked side-by-side with Colt Nichols during their run on the 250 East Coast region in the 2021 Monster Energy Supercross Series, and together the duo secured the first title of their professional career. Now that Maniac Wrench has had a few weeks to relish in the accomplishment, we grabbed him for a quick conversation and recapped the season.
