2020 ANAHEIM ONE SUPERCROSS | COMPLETE COVERAGE

Cat’s out of the bag. Dean Wilson has taken a few small measures to keep himself out of the public eye as he healed up from the hip dislocation suffered at the Monster Energy Cup, like turning off his social media accounts for the time being, doing limited interviews, and quietly easing back into riding. But over the weekend Dean and his dad Andy went to the newly opened State Fair MX in SoCal for a day of motos, and by Tuesday the racer was on a Supercross practice track.

Wilson told swap that he hoped to be on the starting line at the 2020 Anaheim One Supercross, so it’s a good sign that he’s back on the track and has a little over two weeks until the opening round to regain the pace and get healthy.

It’s impressive to track how much Wilson has improved from October, when he was put under with ketamine to reset his hip after the Monster Energy Cup crash, to now. With the momentum from a mostly positive 2019 (popular privateer effort to fill-in deal, sixth place overall in the 450 Supercross championship, a string of top-10 moto finishes during the Nationals after a shoulder injury, overall win at the 2019 Montreal Supercross, engagement to longtime girlfriend) and a confirmed spot for the full season with Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing, 2020 will be a defining year for Wilson.

UPDATE JANUARY 2: After turning his Instagram account back on Wednesday and announcing the winner of his TC 65 giveaway, Wilson confirmed on Thursday that he will be on the starting line this Saturday night for the 2020 Anaheim One Supercross. “I have been on the bike for 2 weeks and to even think that I will line up at A1 is an accomplishment in itself,” he stated in an Instagram post. There was talk that Wilson was ready to call it a career shortly after the injury, an idea he confirms in his caption, but that changed during his recovery period and time of reflection. “This injury has been so gnarly in so many aspects. I told my close people when I got injured that this was it. Enough was enough and I was done. But also this was the worst pain of my life… As a few days went by and things had calmed down I felt I would be leaving something on the table if I just quit and walked away. So after an insane amount of PT/Gym/training and eating the best I could. I’m lining up at A1. I’m a little behind everybody so I need to give myself a few rounds to get stronger so be patient with me. But I get paid to race and that’s what I’m going to do.”

I took 2 1/2 Months off the IG and we are back. I will go into more of that at a later time but sometimes you need to just disconnect and work on yourself mentally, physical and even spiritually… Atleast I did. I have been on the bike for 2 weeks and to even think that I will line up at A1 is an accomplishment in itself. This injury has been so gnarly in so many aspects. I told my close people when I got injured that this was it. Enough was enough and I was done. I’m a little behind everybody so I need to give myself a few rounds to get stronger so be patient with me. But I get paid to race and that’s what I’m going to do. I have the best team and sponsors and fans behind me. I want to personally thank my sponsors for giving me my space and my own time to work on myself the past couple months. YES.I HAVE allways liked Dean..followed his career through the years…especially his riding in the outdoors. Seen him in Lakewood. .lightning fast..really unusual riding techniques. The greatest thing about him is his sense of humor. .Work ethic & do it or die trying attitude..
