Dylan Ferrandis is definitely misunderstood. The Monster Energy/Star Racing/Yamaha rider followed in the footsteps of the French riders like Jean-Michel Bayle and David Vuillemin and came to the United States in search of success at the highest level of the sport. After a few years of figuring out what life is like on the other side of the planet, Ferrandis has sorted out the issues and become one of the top riders of the 250 Class, which is evident in his 250 West Coast title in 2019 and the 1W that’s been on his YZ250F during the 2020 SX season. Last year’s battles with Adam Cianciarulo and this year’s run-ins with Chrisitan Craig and Austin Forkner have caused many to view Ferrandis as an overly aggressive or dirty rider, but he’s made it very clear that these incidents aren’t personal; if he thinks he’s faster than you on the track, then he’ll do what he deems necessary in order to make a pass.

Maybe the misconceptions are intensified by his personality. Unapologetically French, Ferrandis tends to keep with his close circle at the races (wife Nastasia, mechanic Alex, trainer DV, agent Jimmy Button), has a riding style and bike setup that’s unlike anyone else on Star Racing, says exactly how he feels when on the microphone, and doesn’t mind when fans express their displeasure with boos. As long as he can finish at the front of the pack, then it’s all good for Ferrandis, and it’ll be interesting to see what team signs him for a move to the 450 Class in 2021.

But that’s something to talk about later, because right now Ferrandis is focused on scoring another 250 West Coast SX championship when the Monser Energy Supercross Series resumes. Monster Energy and Dirt Shark decided to hype up the contender with a special video shot at a private spot in Southern California that showcases his skills on a motorcycle.
