JAMES STEWART | #7 EPISODE ONE

The final episode of James Stewart’s silence-breaking interview series has dropped and it dives right into the topics that everyone has hoped to hear about. The first thing that Stewart addresses is the WADA-issued suspension for his use of Adderal without a Therapeutic Use Exemption from the ruling body, something that he has said very little about in the past. Clearly still upset by the sixteen-month suspension, Stewart says that it was the beginning to the end of his career and that the situation was mishandled by many parties, from him due to a lack of research and correct paperwork filing and from the officials for their lack of communication and transparency during the deliberations of the punishment. As one of three riders to be issued a suspension by WADA over a positive test for a prohibited substance, Stewart goes on to say that it’s likely Broc Tickle’s career is going to have irreversible damage caused by the FIM and WADA’s handling of the case, and that he feels fighting the case brought more push back from the officials.

At the twelve-minute mark of the video, Stewart addresses something we all have known but few seem to have accepted: that he is done racing professional motocross. It’s clearly a reflective moment from the multi-time champion, as he recounts some of the things he’s gone through, and he acknowledges that he’s done pursuing perfection. “I’ve retired. It’s hard for sure, because I love racing and I love the fans, the opening ceremonies, and the autograph lines. But I don’t miss the sweat and tears of training and having to feel you have to win every race, having to be ‘James Stewart.'”

The sixteen-minute video, as well as the whole series, is a must-watch for any follower of professional motocross. No matter if you were a rabid fan from the 259 era or one that feels Stewart never reached his potential, Stewart’s answer are a welcome look into his career.
