LOOK BACK AT THE 2019 SUPERCROSS SEASON WITH RED BULL’S MOTO SPY SERIES

There is a big payscale in professional motocross. Riders that achieve the highest honors in the sport are often bestowed with hefty paychecks from motorcycle manufacturers and assorted industry brands, while most in the field make slightly less to significantly less. Blake Baggett, Justin Bogle, and Jeff Walker are three riders with differing amounts in their bank accounts, but all call professional motocross their career.

Walker spent the summer following the series on both size bikes with support from a list of sponsors and his family. Walker’s racing stat sheet is modest, but his marketing strategy through online videos has garnered him more recognition than most in his results range. Justin Bogle is a former 250 SX champion plus 450 MX moto and overall winner, but years of injuries have reduced his stock in the sport and he spent 2019 as a fill-in rider on the Rocky Mountain ATV-MC/WPS/KTM team. Last-minute deals like this don’t pay as well as a factory contract, so it’s quite known that Bogle took a pay cut from two years ago to now. Blake Baggett is always considered a title contender for the 450 MX championship before each summer and is paid well for the talent, but he’s been unable to reach the top due to serious injuries the past few summers. His ride in 2017 was especially gutsy, as he rode roughly half of the series without much feeling or strength in his hand after the ligaments in his thumb were torn. Time is winding down for Baggett to achieve the accomplishments on his list, and it’s something that he seems to be very aware of.
