LOOK BACK AT THE 2019 SUPERCROSS SEASON WITH RED BULL’S MOTO SPY SERIES

Did your confidence in Cooper Webb ever waver? Two tough years with the Monster Energy Yamaha Factory Racing team made many think that he was nothing more than a 250 phenom, that the move to the 450 class exposed some of his shortcomings, and that he would never again be a race or championship winner. Hell, he thought that himself.

Luckily for Webb, Roger DeCoster and the Red Bull KTM team didn’t see things that way. When Webb was in the hospital recovering from surgery to stabilize a broken leg, The Man reached out and offered a two-year contract with the orange team. Terms of the deal were strict and required a move to Aldon Baker’s training facility in Florida, something that Webb admits made him more accountable than he’d ever been in his career, but the payoff has been tremendous. Now halfway through the current contract, Webb has delivered Red Bull KTM another 450 Supercross championship and proved himself to be a front-runner in the outdoor series.

It could be difficult to fulfill obligations to someone as accomplished as Roger DeCoster. The Belgian he was known for unmatched determination and knowledge of the bike during his prime, and those skills have stayed sharp despite it being decades since his last race. How do you impress a multi-time world champion? Put in just as much work as he does.
