Greetings from Australia! We’ve made the long trip down to hang out with the Penrite Honda crew and cover the 2019 AUS-X Open Supercross, the final round of the 2019 Australian Supercross Championship. A Sunday night flight from LAX put us in Melbourne on Tuesday morning (the 16-hour flight and pass across the International Date Line is what happened to our Monday), so we spent our first day down under with the team at their race shop in the coastal town of Seaford and then headed to a private practice track on Wednesday morning for the team’s final test session of the season.

There’s a lot on the line for the Penrite Honda team with one race left in the season/ Three-time and defending champion Justin Brayton comes into the AUS-X weekend down one point to Luke Clout, while Brett Metcalfe trails by seventeen points, so there’s hope that a fourth SX1 title could be clinched this weekend. Chris Blose and Mitchell Oldenburg are in a similar situation in the SX2 class, as Blose is down four points to series leader Josh Osby and Oldenburg is down by thirteen.

Since all riders are in must-win scenarios, the last test day was an important time to sort out the setup of the Honda CRF bikes. The small track that we went to today belongs to a friend of the team and though small, it still featured a number of large jumps, a sizeable whoop section, and some technical obstacles. Browse through the images below and come back to the site soon for more content from the trip. Thursday we will head back to Melbourne and pick up with the rest of the competitors for a day in the city and then to the track on Friday for a press riding session.
