We’ve long been fans of clamp-on-style grips as the design eliminates the messy glue and safety wire process. Furthermore, no matter how meticulous you are with glue and wire, you can almost always bet that once they are slightly torn in a crash or washed a few times, a traditional grip will eventually slip. The clamp-on design originated in the BMX and MTB world many years ago, and Pro Taper recently entered the category with its line of Clamp On Grips. Available in both 1/2 Waffle and Pillowtop designs, the Pro Taper Clamp On Grip installs in literally seconds and stay firmly attached to the handlebar, no matter what. While other lock=on grips can require filing down the knurling on some handlebars, the Pro Taper Clamp On Grip slides on easily.

Included with each set of grips are several different throttle cams, and looking up the proper application for your bike and snapping the correct cam on is a cinch. We chose the 1/2 Waffle grip and love its low-profile design that has a very slim feel in your hand. The ribs of. the 1/2 waffle are low in profile, yet offer plenty of traction. The non-throtte side grip features a windowed-core that allows the grip to compress in your left hand a bit, resulting in a thin feel and extra vibration damping.

We’ve been riding and racing with the Pro Taper Clamp On Grip for a few months now and have found them to be very durable and crash resistant, even in tip over on hard-packed tracks. We love this grip and we think you will, too.www.protaper.com
