RED BULL MOTO SPY | EPISODES ONE – FOUR

The long-awaited fifth episode of this year’s Red Bull Moto Spy video series is here and focuses on the high drama that unfolded over the last few months in motocross. This episode takes place at multiple locations around the country, from the training compounds of central Florida to the amateur events in Texas to Supercross rounds in Seattle and Houston. With Red Bull’s unrestricted access to Cooper Webb, Ken Roczen, Marvin Musquin, and Shane McElrath, viewers are able to see the range of emotions and events that riders go through in pursuit of a win.

Getting through the seventeen-round Supercross season with a clean bill of health is one challenge that riders always face and in 2019, Roczen and McElrath have faced their share of issues. After the close finish of the Arlington Supercross, Roczen’s energy levels took a dive and he spent weeks working with specialists at the Red Bull training facilities to figure out the issue. For McElrath, meanwhile, a pair of bulging discs in his lower back made riding an almost impossible task and in Seattle, the rider had to make the decision to sit out the remaining rounds of 250 West Coast region.

Everything seemed solid for Red Bull KTM with two riders in contention for the 450 title, but a bar-banging first moto at the 2019 Houston Supercross showed that “teammate” is just a concept when a championship is up for grabs. Team principals Roger DeCoster and Ian Harrison made sure that cooler heads prevailed and with only a few rounds to go, any egos or misunderstandings have been tempered.

Episode five of the Red Bull Moto Spy Series clocks in at twenty-two minutes, so this is one of those videos that will require some attention. But with two rounds left in the Supercross season and a title on the line, a video of this caliber is a welcome look into the world of a pro racer…
