Sean Cantrell’s 2019 season is over as a result of ongoing issues with his hand and wrist which has required surgery. The Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/KTM rider suffered the initial injury at the 2019 Atlanta Supercross and took time off to recover, came back for two rounds of the Supercross season, and had to stop again when doctors found a fracture to the triquetral bone in his wrist. Cantrell sat out the opening part of the Pro Motocross championship to sort out the issue and came back at the Spring Creek Motocross, but still experienced discomfort and a loss of strength in his hand. The issue seemed to be at its worst last weekend at the Budds Creek Motocross, because Cantrell did not line up for 250 Moto Two after a 27th place finish in 250 Moto One.

This was Cantrell’s second season as a professional racer and with the Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/KTM team, a program that took him through the final part of his amateur career and into the pro series. Injuries have riddled the Southern California native for some time and it’s known that he will part ways with the KTM team at the conclusion of the year; what Cantrell plans to do in 2020 is uncertain.
