Malcolm Stewart is one of the most interesting and entertaining racers in the sport and he is currently enjoying his most consistent and successful season in the 450 class. The Oakland Supercross will always hold a special place in Malcolm’s heart as it was the site of his first win in 2015, and he and his crew were very much looking forward to the fifth round of this year’s Monster Energy Supercross Series at Oakland’s RingCentral Coliseum. We hung out with Mookie in the days leading up to the race, to give viewers a peek into what a racer like Malc goes through, Monday through Friday…
Race day at RingCentral Coliseum presented Stewart with some challenges in the form of average starts, but he managed to finish fourth in his heat race for a direct transfer to the main event. At the drop of the gate in the 450 final Malcolm was mired at the start but came through the field to finish a lonely 10th with no one around him. Keeping his top-10 finish streak alive, Stewart left the Bay Area seventh in the championship standings. We caught up with Malcolm on Monday evening after the race, once he had some time to reflect on the past week.
