Amsoil Swapmoto Race Series Profile | Parker Westfall

Age: 8

Hometown: Menifee, CA

Sponsors: Fly Racing and my mom and dad

It’s always special for us when we learn that a rider has entered his first-ever motocross race with us, and that’s exactly what young Parker Westfall did today at the Perris MX round of the Amsoil Swapmoto Race Series West Coast Open! Parker’s dad, Steve, is best known as the crew chief for the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing Team. Though Parker is quite an accomplished BMX racer, his career as a motocross racer is just beginning!

We heard that this is your first-ever motocross race! What made you decide to try it out?

Yes, this is my first race. I wanted to race dirt bikes because of my dad and stuff!

You’re a pretty experienced BMX racer, though, right?

Yes, I just turned Expert class and I guess I am pretty fast!

What is the coolest thing about BMX racing?

The coolest thing is that you can do a lot of things at the track and you can make new friends at the track.

What’s the coolest thing about motocross racing?

The coolest thing is that you get to ride and you can also make new friends at the races. Everyone is friendly.

In BMX you race one lap at a sprint pace. In motocross, you race for several laps. So far, which do you prefer?

I think I prefer dirt bike racing! It’s cool because you get to ride for longer.

So how did your first race go?

It was good! I had a lot of fun. It went better than practice did because I started to jump some stuff to go faster. It was fun because even if I cased it, it was faster to just try to jump.

Who is your favorite pro racer?

Probably Zach Osborne and Jason Anderson. Zach is really good friends with our family and he is fast!

Tell me about your dirt bike!

It’s a Husky 50. It is stock, but it has cool graphics!

It’s kind of a bummer that your dad isn’t here for your first dirt bike race!

Yeah, but he had to go to the Supercross last night in Tennessee.

How is your mom doing as a first-time mini mom?

She’s doing good!

Do you have a racing nickname?

(Laughs) Uh…Peanut?
