Last night I got a call from Kenny Watson about a race happening this weekend in Florida and he wanted to see if we could spread the word. Called “The Bling Cup,” it’ll take place on Saturday night at Tampa MX, the same place as the Tampa Pro SX back in March, and will be a very unique program. Watson always took care of me during the H&H/RCH days and posting about this race is the least I can do for all of the free Jimmy John’s sandwiches a few years ago…

We’ve paid some more attention to grassroots events around the country this year, an editorial decision that turned into a new interest after the COVID pause on pro racing, and this looks like it’ll be a great time at the track. The crew at Tampa MX will offer a normal roster of classes with modest entry fees, details of which are listed below, and racers will cut laps on an all-new layout that was built for the weekend.

50cc 4-8 Open
Quad Open
Women Open
85-112 9-16
Pro Open
B Open
65 7-11 Open
Vet 25+ Open
C Open
125 2 Stoke Open

Gate Fee: $30
Race Entry Fee: Amateur $20 Pro $40

We went to the Tampa Pro MX earlier this year and were impressed by the facility, the race program, and the turnout. Florida motocross fans came out in droves to see the action and hang out on a Thursday night, so we’d expect even more people to go back this weekend, especially with the Riff Raff concert that’ll take place post-race.

That’s right. Riff Raff, aka Jody High Roller, aka Dale Dan Tony, aka the Vanilla Gorilla, aka Rap Game James Franco will be on-site to hang out with the crowd and perform after the race, which will be hosted by 2 Pistols and amateur motocross announcer extraordinaire Wes Kain. Malcolm Stewart has also told the promoters that he’ll make the trip down to hang out with his fellow Floridians, so there’ll be no shortage of star power.

Watson told us a few other key details that make the race exciting, both for participants and spectators. First was the award and money payout, which will be very good for a local race. Since the race is the Bling Cup, the top finishers will be presented massive “diamonds” and for some classes cash bonuses.

An online broadcast is another very big element to the event, as it’ll be shown as a pay-per-view ($14.99) on Spot Network, an online streaming site, and will include special one-on-one profiles on competitors. If you can’t make it to the track, you can watch the action on watch.spotnetwork.tv and AppleTV, Roku, Amazon Fire, Google Play, AndroidTV, on most SmartTVs. The live stream will start at 7 PM Eastern time.
