In celebration of their all-new MX53 tire, Jay Clark and Dunlop built up a special Suzuki RM-Z250 with all sorts of trick goodies to sit on display at the launch. Fortunately, Jay gave the Swapmoto Live crew the opportunity to ride the RM-Z250 and see how the special machine felt on-track. We had our buddy Alex Ray gear-up, spin some laps on the MX53 Suzuki, and then sit down with us and talk about how the machine felt compared to the stock RM-Z250. For the new MX53 Intermediate to hard pack tire launch Jay Clark thought he would make a show stopper of a bike for the SML crew to pound out some hard laps on. The Suzuki RM-Z250 is known for it’s lack of power, when compared to other bikes in the same class, so Jay immediately installed a Vertex High Compression Piston Kit and FMF 4.1 Muffler to open up that quiet powerband. Following the improvements to the motor, Race Tech had their hand in fixing the harsh reality of the stock Suzuki forks by installing their softer spring. In between fixing the two greater lacking characteristics of the RM-Z250 they littered the bike in trick hardparts, such as the Supersprox sprocket, Renthal bars, Works Connection levers, and Scar Ti footpegs. And just like that, Jay Clark turned a machine that frustrated many riders into a powerhorse that hooked-up, while still handleing in the iconic Suzuki way.
