Track Tested | Moose Racing Environmental Bike Mat

Price: $78.95

While motorcycle bike mats are nothing new in our sport, the guys at Moose Racing have taken a different approach than the typical all-rubber or carpeted mats with its Environmental Bike Mat. The Moose Racing Environmental Bike Mat is designed to absorb up to 6 liters of fluids should you have a mishap or spill while working on your bike. (Changing oil or coolant, bleeding brakes, etc.) Boasting a six-layer construction, the mat can be washed with soap and water and reused when soiled.

At the track, the mat is an excellent idea, as spilling chemicals straight onto the ground is never a good thing as they can soak into the Earth and reach the water table. In the garage, the mat is also great because it can protect your expensive floor coating from being damaged and/or becoming slippery.

The mat is lightweight and easy to roll up for transport to and from the track, and it does indeed absorb fluids like a sponge. One of the things we like best about the mat is that once fluids are spilled onto it, they are soaked up instantly and do not bead up on the surface. While we have spilled a drop of oil and coolant here and there onto the mat on accident and it performed perfectly, we have yet to have a massive accident on it to test its abilities to soak up a spill. That said, we poured a full glass of water on the mat and were pumped when it soaked it all in, in a jiffy.

Dirt can either be swept off or vacuumed up and keeping the mat looking nice is an easy task. We’ve been using several old N-Style rubber mats in our garage since we got them in 2005, but they’re soon to be replaced by a few of these bad boys from our friends at Moose Racing. We love them.
