Villopoto Family Ties | Tradition Runs Deep

There was a time when former 250 Supercross, 450 Supercross, 250 National MX, and 450 National MX Champion Ryan Villopoto declared that his kids would not race motocross. Lo and behold, seven-year-old twins Gage and Brax are now fourth-generation motocross racers who carry the Villopoto name onto the racetrack, and we love to see it! A couple of years ago, RV2 brought his boys out to the AMSOIL Swapmoto Race Series to enter their first race on their Yamaha PW50s, and he had to convince them that it wasn’t a race at all; only practice sessions with a starting gate and checkered flag!

My how times have changed. The Villopoto clan – Ryan, Gage, Brax, and mom Kristen – came out to last weekend’s Glen Helen round of the Swapmoto Race Series West Coast Open armed with an electric KTM e5 and a Cobra 50 and we had as much fun watching the boys race (and watching RV work on the bikes!) as the kids had racing.
