2019 MOTOCROSS OF NATIONS | COMPLETE COVERAGE

The second team for the 2019 Motocross of Nations has been confirmed, as Team Belgium announced their three-rider roster the weekend at the MXGP event in Lommel. Despite being a small country, Belgium has a long history of producing class-leading talent and often has a long list of riders to choose from for the international event. For 2019, the team will consist of Jeremy van Horebeek in the MXGP position, Jago Geerts in the MX2 position, and Kevin Strijbos in the Open position, with Johan Boonen as the team manager. Considering the number of sand tracks located throughout Belgium, the Red Knights should fare well at Assen.

All three riders have experienced the Motocross of Nations before; Geerts made his MXON debut at the 2018 event, while Strijbos and van Horebeek took Belgium to a second-place overall finish at the event in 2014 on the sandy style track in Latvia.

Geerts has become a contender for top-five finishes in the MX2 division, van Horebeek has logged impressive rides as a well-supported privateer, and Strijbos has scored points in the MXGP class with a race program that focuses on the European rounds.

Clement Desalle is absent from this year’s lineup due to the broken leg he suffered at the MXGP of Russia, an injury which required surgery and will keep him off of the bike through the rest of the season.

The 2019 Motocross of Nations will run at the famed Assen TT motorcycle venue on a specially built sand course, a first for the historical event. It will take place from September 27th to the 29th.
