2021 UNADILLA MOTOCROSS | COMPLETE COVERAGE

Aaron Plessinger’s day at the 2021 Unadilla Motocross came to an early end after a hard crash, but aside from some bruising to his liver and lungs, the Monster Energy/Star Racing/Yamaha rider is for the most part okay.

Plessinger was in pursuit of leader Ken Roczen during the first part of 450 Moto One until he landed in a hole near the finish line, lost his balance, cracked the throttle wide open, and slid off the back of the bike in a high-speed loop out. The body-jarring hit caused him to cough up blood and at the guidance of the Alpinestar Mobile Medical crew, he took a trip to a nearby hospital.

“I think I came out best-case scenario, with a bruised lung and a slightly bruised liver,” he shared on Instagram Sunday morning. “We’ll go from here and see what we can do, see if I can ride this week or not.”

Plessinger was one of the fastest riders in the 450 Class at round eight of the 2021 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, as he was second overall in the morning’s Timed Qualifying sessions and matched Roczen’s speed during a breakaway run in 450 Moto One (Roczen’s best lap time was a 2:19.879, Plessinger’s best lap time was a 2:19.986, and both maintained a 2:20-2:22 pace).

“I was feeling really good, me and Kenny were really putting the hammer down,” continued Plessinger. “I’m more hungry now that every I guess. That win’s been eluding me and I need to get it done before the end of the year. Let’s get back to it. That’s behind us now and we’ll push on forward.”

Plessinger is sixth overall in the 450 Class standings, with 217 total points.
