The 2024 Monster Energy Supercross Championship has arrived at its eighth stop at Daytona International Speedway. The riders broke in the soft soil of the infield, logging their fastest times in the first session before heavy rainfall soaked the course. The fastest times would be split by fractions of a second in both the 250SX West and 450SX classes–awarding the leaders important gate picks going into the night show. Read on to find out where the field stacked up and who came out on top in each session.

250 Class
Rookie Daxton Bennick laid down a strong lap early in the first 250SX Timed-Qualifying session with a 1:29.666 to top the field. With that, the Monster Energy/Star Racing/Yamaha claimed his first top qualifying time of his career. Joining in with a sub-1:30 time was Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Cameron McAdoo. His 1:29.778 earned him the second-fastest time in the
first session. Behind them, Tom Vialle showed speed with a 1:30.124 on his Red Bull KTM Factory Racing machine. With a little 3:24 left in the first session, qualifying came to a pause as Haiden
Deegan was ejected from his Monster Energy/Star Racing/Yamaha as a result of cross rutting the face of a triple. After being attended to by the Alpinestars Mobile Medical Unit, Deegan remounted his bike and returned to the pits to get ready for the second session. Notably, Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GasGas Factory Racing’s Pierce Brown topped the charts in the muddy second session with a 1:37.427.

450 Class
Carrying the momentum of his win in Arlington, Cooper Webb put his Monster Energy/Star Racing/Yamaha atop the leaderboard in 450SX Timed-Qualifying session one with a 126.854. Chase Sexton was the only other rider to log a time under 1:27. The RedBull KTM Factory Racing rider’s 1:26.914 in the first session would secure a runner-up spot on the leaderboard. Settling into just behind them, Eli Tomac threw down a 1:27.423 on his Monster Energy/Star Racing/Yamaha. Progressive Insurance ECSTAR Suzuki’s Ken Roczen nearly matched that time with his own 1:27.489.
Due to the deteriorating track conditions and onslaught of rain, a decision was made to cancel the second set of 450SX Time-Qualifying sessions.
