AMA ASSIGNED NUMBERS FOR 2023
MONSTER ENERGY SUPERCROSS TRACK MAPS & DETAILS

The AMA has posted a Competition Bulletin of amendments coming to the Monster Energy Supercross Championship rulebook, which includes the removal of a points-based advancement system from the 250 Class. These changes, which take effect in 2023, make winning the East or West Regional Championship the only way a rider can be forcibly promoted to the 450 Class.

Although many riders can now stay aboard the small-bore bikes for as long they’d like, there is one major stipulation: those sent to the 450 Class under the previous regulations, due to points scored or championships won from 2017 to 2022, will not be allowed to drop back down.

The new rules also say champions will be allowed one season to either return to the region with the number one or compete in the other with their assigned number, and they must earn at least five points for it to count as a season. This detail will help riders denied a proper defense, like an injury before/ at the opening round.

Limitations are noted, like, “if a rider wins the Championship in their fourth or more season, that rider will be eligible to compete in the 250SX class the following season only,” or “a rider that wins a second championship will be eligible to participate in the class for a maximum of three years, total regardless of what year they won their second title.”

Amateur riders who accumulate four points over twenty-four months in the Supercross Futures program can apply for a professional license and enter the 250 Class. However, anyone that has qualified in the top forty at a Monster Energy AMA Supercross event in the past three seasons is not eligible to race in the Futures class.

Change the hole thing!! A real Triple Crown Championship. Have 6 East and 6 West Coast championship events for the titles. Then take the Top 24 racers in points from each Coast to complete in the “New AMA 250 SUPERCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP!” 24 riders are to allow two reserve racers at each event. The Heat races are Coastal. They qualify to the main event of 11 from each heat, 11 West Coast 11 East Coast for the Overall Championship in the last 5 events.
