Dean Wilson | Return To Racing Still Undetermined

It’s been more than a month since Dean Wilson took a hard slam late in the Supercross season and it sounds like the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing rider is still a few weeks out from getting back behind the starting gate. On Monday morning, Wilson posted an Instagram update that explained although he is back on the bike and riding at the usual California practice spots to get back up to speed, his shoulder is still far from full strength.
Wilson was hurt during the 450 Main Event at the 2019 Denver Supercross, as a mechanical issue caused his bike to lose power while he jumped through a rhythm section. The impact with the hard Colorado dirt took a toll on Wilson and he was immediately taken to a nearby hospital for a full evaluation, where it was discovered that he had done damage to his shoulder and had contusions on his kidney. Neither injury required surgery, but the shoulder injury has taken a considerable amount of time to heal.
This weekend will be the fourth round of the 2019 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, the 2019 High Point Motocross, and Wilson’s post makes it clear that he will not be on the line for it. The two rounds on the schedule after that, WW Ranch in Florida and Southwick in Massachusetts, are rough sand tracks and would be very tough on a sore shoulder.
After starting the season as an independent rider with tremendous support from Rockstar Energy, Ignite, and Husqvarna, Wilson was pulled to the factory team when Jason Anderson’s Supercross season was ended by injury and then was confirmed for a full-time spot through the full Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship. Wilson finished the Supercross season with 11 top-10 finishes and one podium and was ranked sixth overall in the final standings. This summer stint with the team is an important opportunity for Wilson because he is one of the many riders in need of a full-time stop on a team in 2020.

Get well soon Deano!!
