It’s always exciting to see Eli Tomac ride at the Colorado ranch. The property, an alfalfa farm owned by parents John and Kathy, has always been home to the multi-time champion. How many superstars can say they practice on the same ground where they learned their craft?

Bell Helmets visited Cortez to capture Tomac’s first laps on the Monster Energy/Star Racing/Yamaha YZ450F for an episode of “Under The Helmet.” Yes, seeing ET3 on the blue bike is the initial allure of the video, but home movie flashbacks and Tomac’s openness about his career wound up being as significant as the action footage. When retirement was brought up during the 11-minute edit, Eli stated that the desire to win is still the driving force in his success, and despite reaching most of his goals feels the new program could add more time to his career. John, meanwhile, warned that the end comes after the motivation runs out.

2022 will be Tomac’s twelfth year as a pro racer. How many more will he go? That’ll be figured out soon enough.
