Honda to Offer Demo Rides on CR Electric

A couple of weekends ago, Honda unveiled a prototype electric motocross bike at the Toyko Motorcycle Show and images of the exciting machine swept through the Internet. Speculation ran rampant, and Honda Japan even answered some of our questions HERE.

Since then, we’ve exchanged some texts with our friend, 12-Time All Japan National MX Champion Akira Narita, asking if he has had a chance to ride the bike himself. “Not me,” he replied. “But I spoke with the developer and he said the performance is better than Alta.”

This weekend the 2019 All Japan National MX Championship kicks off at Kyushu Raceway in Kumamoto, Japan, and in an almost unbelievable press release, Honda announced that the prototype CR Electric will not only be on display at the race, but Honda will be offering demo rides on the bike during a three-hour window in between championship-class motos!

Sadly, this will be the first All-Japan National opener we’ve missed in well over a decade, as the launch of the new Swapmoto Live platform, coupled with the fact that we expect no new models to be raced at Kumamoto, made the trip to Japan tough to justify. We will, however, have a correspondent on hand to share works bike photos and also to take a demo ride on the CR Electric on behalf of SML.

Thanks to the wonderful Facebook translation feature, the following is the official press release from Honda Japan…
